My hope is that we will becoming off of a strong season and have an experienced QB.  If not, it will be one heck of a game for the new coach

I like these games because it's cool to see Marshall in these environments. Being at Notre Dame was one of the best moments of my life. But getting wins against the blue bloods will be few and far between.

I think instead of one game vs a blue blood every year; we had two against average P4s. Like Minnesota and Virginia, for example. Better chance at winning and building a resume for a spot in the playoff.

I agree but without a return game the payout difference between the top teams and the average ones is significant so you better win or at least split if you play two.

A good showing against a top tier school is the same as a win against a Minnesota or UVA, in the voters eyes, for playoff spots.  We play Ohio St close or Georgia close and have a great season, otherwise, we're in the conversation and we take the spot over a team with a loss or two over lesser schools, as has been done to us a few times.  And this would also get us in over say undefeated Liberty last year with their garbage schedule, had our only loss been a touchdown loss to NCState.  We play in what is considered the toughest G5 division in the country.  We have a built in advantage to play and lose to top teams, if we schedule them, and the occasional win puts way over over the top

Well that seems to make sense but injuries are usually not associated with contact per a National Institute of Health Study. 54 percent of football injuries in the study were non contact.
When broken down into risk factors the study found no relationship to the caliber of competition.

  If your theory is correct then there would be more injuries in the SEC than in the SBC. And there is no evidence of that.

Agree. With strength of schedule being such a thing nowadays, even playing the big teams close is still kinda of a "win." We have Penn State, Wisconsin and Georgia on future schedules. Continue with having that one big team on the schedule each year. I'd like to see teams like Oregon, USC, LSU, etc. added sometime down the line.

Your last sentence lacks logic. Two ten year olds punching each other, two five year olds punching each other, a ten year old and a five year old punching each other. Who is the most likely hurt individual out of the six participants?

Bigger, stronger, faster not only delivers more punishment but can also absorb more punishment.
