  • I watched his 2022 highlights, he?s looks like a clone of Ethan Payne.  Maybe Payne is a little faster.  He catches the ball well out of the backfield.  He hasn?t scored very many TDs in his career, which is concerning.  He averages 4 yards a carry (same as Payne) which is a good thing.

  • Hopefully we have an offensive line that can block for him.

  • He seems to see the hole, he uses he blockers well and he has good hands.  He looks like he may be a solid addition to the team.

  • What I've heard about him, and what these highlights seem to show, is that he's a very versatile player.  Runs the ball well, but is a good receiving threat out of the backfield.  RBs catch quite a few passes in an air raid system.  So, he seems like an ideal fit for what we're looking to do on offense.

  • Very much Ethan Payne...like.  Good hands and sturdy top-first running style.

I think you'll see a LOT of passes to our running backs this year, Payne could be a receiver if he wanted to be, IMHO.  Great hands.

  • hopefully one or more emerges from the shadows of Ali/Laborn.

will it be offense by committee given there doesn't seem to be any standouts at any position?
reading posts over the months, it seems it's going to be either-

it won't work without better QB and OL  -or-  we just need steady, workman-like QB and OL to get it done

  • No offense to Ethan Payne but this dude looks like another level athletically compared to Ethan.

  • We're not giving up one for the other.  I'm sure both will get plenty of carries/catches.  It's a good problem to have.  Wouldn't be surprised to see Ethan used a lot for pass protection and then relief valve if nothing open.

  • Developing a consistent and effective ground game can't do anything but make the HERD's passing game more potent, IMO.  I believe the big question offensive is how good and effective the MU passing attack will be.  Establishing a solid ground attack can't anything but positive, again IMO!!

  • Huff has been blessed with good running backs, he inherited Ali from Doc and recruited Laborn.  Huff's offenses have been effective in the running game.  This season may not have the star running back that Huff has been blessed with in the past however, if he can develop an effective passing game we should see good things from the running backs.  What this his running back room lacks in star power it may make up for in other ways.

Are we are bringing in another player at a key position that is rehabbing an injury or struggling with whether to give up football?  Houston played in 12 games during the 2022 season but only 3 games in 2023 and did not play in a game after September 16.  He chose to red shirt the remainder of the 2023 season which seems odd.  He also played 11 games in 2020 but only 6 games in 2021.  Which Jordan Houston will we see?
