  • Gavin Lochow, I think that is who you are referring to. He helped HHS to a state title at QB a couple of years ago.

  • i was wondering about where he might go just last night. I 'm sure he'd never come to MU after seeing the crap his brother has been through. He is apparently well known to be a better QB than his brother, Cole; although committing to an FCS school might put some doubt on that. UD is a great school, but not know for its football success historically.  Good luck Luke, unfortunately this splits Chad's time commitment, etc. during the two years Cole and Luke will both be playing D1 football.

  • First of all congratulations to Luke.

Dayton is a member of the Pioneer League and offers need-based and academic scholarships that are available for football student-athletes. Morehead State is also a member of the league. "Following an NCAA rule change passed in January 1991, which required Division I schools to conduct all sports at the Division I level by 1993, the conference was formed by charter members Butler University, the University of Dayton, Drake University, the University of Evansville, and Valparaiso University."
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pioneer_Football_League

So in reality, Dayton and Morehead State and the other members of the Pioneer are really a D3 level programs in football since they don't offer football scholarships.

I couldn't find any other colleges offering Luke a football scholarship with a quick internet check. Maybe others might find some information on his college offers? If Luke is considered a better QB than Cole, I wouldn't be surprised to see Cole transfer down to a lower level program. Nothing against Cole, but Marshall is signing high school and portal QB looking for a player who can turn the program around.

  • I don't know how physically talented Luke is compared to Cole or any other QB..  But I do know that he has to be an excellent decision maker because he went last year without throwing a single interception. Had like 37 TDs and 0 INTs.

  • The Pioneer Football League (PFL) is a collegiate athletic conference which operates in the United States. The conference participates in the NCAA's Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) as a football-only conference. It has member schools that range from New York, North Carolina, and Florida in the east to California in the west. It is headquartered in St. Louis, in the same complex that also contains the offices of the Missouri Valley Conference and Missouri Valley Football Conference. Unlike most other Division I FCS conferences, the Pioneer League consists of institutions that choose not to award athletic scholarships ("grants-in-aid") to football players.

Most of the PFL's members are private schools. Morehead State University is currently the only public school in the conference.

Congratulations to Luke and the Penningtons.

His brother was given a scholarship and an opportunity to play and prove himself and erase all doubts about his ability to lead our football team.

We have higher ranked freshman QBs and 2025 QB commits than him and there?s not a lot room in the QB room.  We?ll have 7-8 on scholarship this year.

That many QBs on scholarship is a sign of Huff's demonstrated inability to identify a diamond in the rough when recruiting and inability to develop a quality QB once on the team.

This is the year for Huff to prove he is able to produce a high finishing team n conference or be seen as Coach Bluff shown the door .

  • The Gardner kid is likely the best QB signee we have had in many years. He may start from day one, depending on what QB's stay or go.

  • Luke maybe headed to Dayton for a year or two of development before entering Transfer Portal. Depending on his projected growth cycle he may grow height and add weight during his time at Dayton. Just some thoughts!
