  • Terrible news, I don?t know about this one way or the other, but Woody and Dan Shoemaker should be in the Marshall HOF for their lifetime dedication to Marshall Athletics.

  • So sorry to hear this.  A True Son of Marshall, if there ever was one.  We were classmates, and go all the way back to the days of "The Young Thundering Herd" & Russell Lee and Mike DiAntoni.

  • He should be in the Herd HOF.

Would be very surprised if he is not a 2025 inductee.

  • I hate to hear this. I used to go to the call in show at the Pub back in the day and he was always a friendly guy when we'd talk there.

This reminds me... E-Man used to call in after every game and talk to "Woodrow". I noticed E hasn't posted in a long time. Hope everything is ok with him.

Woody loved talking Marshall sports on the radio. But he was really good at talking sports in general. I really hated when he wasn't on the sport show on WRVC.

  • It's rough trying to type this.
That is hurtful news. His dancing in the Hole after a Herd victory in the 1970s was something else; he could really pick em up and lay them down with some flips thrown in for extra moves.

Thoughts and prayers to his family and loved ones.

RIP Winfield Woody and the Herd's Woody. God Bless.

    go herd!!!

Yes they should be. I'm not sure if Woody is in the HOF or not, but I do know he was on the HOF board

  • One of the best things about social media was getting to connect with Woody later in life. Such a good guy. RIP to someone who undoubtedly left his mark on this universe and this Herd fan.
