I wish the message board and social media fans would learn from this and not want to run coaches off every time we lose a game. He needed time to establish himself just like the next coach will need time. Most likely we won't be keeping him because the damage has been done. You know who you are...the same guys are already dogging Corny after every loss.
This guy was hired as a head coach in training - that should have been clear to everyone. Have people forgotten the ECU meltdown a few years ago. Our strategy was to pour fuel onto a fire and make GD sure we lost. As pointed by some he has under-achieved given the resources he has had. Yes, we loved that he put together a team that could win at a then-over-rated ND. Few if any could have done that with our resources. But his recruits (Laborn) and an experienced and talented D and secondary carried that day.
I don't like being a CT but when your star RB goes the length of the field untouched and then sits out in a bowl game that was an obvious setup to begin with, at what point do things like W-L really matter.
The MU "good ol' boy" system has me terrified that after Huff is gone we will hire someone who can't even recruit or bring talent from the portal. All the best X's and O's in world will not remedy that. He's been hit and miss with coaching hires and deserves a solid "D" grade for his overall tenure at the QB position.
To top it off, he has so far not related to the fans. For all the good, the understanding of the 75, etc. and great "George Allen Style" relating to players there has been a negative in the press. Blaming the fans for demanding accountability for his blunders. It is not good that we feel we want to retain him because of the fear that we will hire someone not even mediocre.
