  • Can he at least win a division before crowning him our guy.

He was brought here to win championships, and that is on the line next week at JMU.

  • When Huff gets back, Smith and Spears need to lock him in a room and not let him out until he signs an extension.

  • In today's portal and NIL you aren't going to find a better coach for Marshall. He brought in Greene, Fitzpatrick, Chester, Braxton, Houston and some D line. You better watch what you wish for in today's game. You won't find a better portal recruiter for Marshall football.

  • He beat Notre Dame @ Notre Dame convincingly!   He?s good for The Herd.  Program stabilizer in strange era of college football.  Right coach at right time.  But he will be plucked away unfortunately.

  • He is 30-20 currently in year four. Only thing I will say is that we have a tradition of keeping basketball coaches around a lot longer with worse winning percentages. Some say: apples to oranges. I don't. Football and men's basketball are your two main revenue sports. At some point, we have to have a standard for those two sports.

Huff has some quality wins. He represents this program well on interviews and such. He does recruit talent. He made some much needed changes on the staff and it is working. His players aren't in trouble with the law. I gripe about him. But he does more good than bad.

Yes. But we are 8-3 and playing for a championship.

We have a transfer Edge being talk about as an NFL draft first or second rounder.

We have a starting QB who is 7-0 since taking the reigns.

Marshall fans need to appreciate what we have.

  • Didn?t he turn down an extension before the season? Guessing he will move on to greener pastures and empty the cupboard on his way out. I would actually like to lock him in for a few more years, OC has developed well but DC needs to change.

  • I can't believe the University will terminate the relationship with the current season record.  I can see Huff deciding to leave, but not us firing him.

For the time being I'm going to watch the remaining games and will worry about next year later.

I can see them terminating the relationship, especially if Marshall loses next week. Does management have to beg Huff to want to work here?

  • It?s a two way street. He needs to want to be here and my guess is that will be his choice only if he doesn?t have other attractive options.

His weakness is he?s not a coordinator. Don?t think anyone would hire him to run either side of the ball. So he either gets a big offer to lead recruiting or maybe a G5 job in a location he likes more. If those aren?t on the table he?ll be back.

  • If Huff wants to be here then he has earned it imo. I?ve complained as much as anyone else, but I think he is starting to get it all figured out.

Keeping Huff means we prob keep Braxton as well. Give Huff another off season with a stud QB to build around and who knows what we can do.

  • If we win next week we will have had the best East division record 2 out of 3 years with 1 loss both years.  2 out of 3 years the best record in what is considered the best G5 division in the country.  We still qualify for that statistic if we lose and GS loses, except for the 1 loss thing.

  • I really hope we win next week. If not then he will become coach Fluff again even if a player would cost us the game. The knives will be back out just like they have been for 4 years. Would love to see him win a SB championship and then move on. Huff is a good man, ran a very clean program and recruited amazingly well in today's game at a place with very little portal money. Heck Doc was treated much better and had a 3-9 season and probably 7 of the worst losses at the Joan. He deserves better imo!!!

Well, he will have at least a tie for the divisional championship. Considering that the NIL factor change recruiting I think he has done a great job of adapting to the changing environment of college sports. I will say he not as a good a coach as Bob Pruett, but remember Donnan chocked on a lot of big games. Plus we are playing in a much better conference than CUSA.

Doc was let go, in part, to the problems with the program. Marshall had enough of his players getting into constant trouble like drug dealing; homophobic altercations and other felonies.

  • Huff seems to have us going in the right direction.  Don't know what the rest of this season holds, but he seems to be doing a good job.  Won on the road yesterday while being a 3 point underdog.  I think he has learned a lot on the job here as most people do when they have a new job.  He could have lost the team after what happened at Georgia Southern.  My opinion is we should try an resign him.  I feel better about the program with 1 game left in the regular season then I have in a long time.  Sure, if we lose next week I will be upset and frustrated, but overall I think he is doing a good job and his players play hard and represent the University well.  My 2 cents worth.

  • If we do not resign Huff, we will literally lose half the team.  Players like him.  A new coach would have a tough time restocking the roster getting late to the transfer portal.

One thing I most remember about Huff was when things were tough and we were not winning consistently he never lost the locker room. Players obviously believed in his character.
