  • Was bored yesterday watching the Texans game and thought to myself, Neville Hewitt has made a pretty good NFL career for himself. So that got me thinking, how would Marshall players rank based on their professional careers? So here, is my top 20 list. Figured it could give some reprieve to the Coach Huff drama.

  • I was like where's Doug Chapman?  But I looked him up and not terribly impressive.  1 receiving TD and 300 yards rushing and no TDs in 26 games over 3 years.  But he did make it to the show, so there's that.

He had a pretty bad back injury if IRCC that cut his NFL time short. Couldn't stay healthy but when he was healthy in college, he was special.

Well it was because of his college career I assumed he'd be higher on the NFL list.  But we are talking 20+ years ago and I'm lucky to remember that he played, let alone how much or how well.

  • Let me throw a couple at you. What about Olandis Gary and Jermaine Wiggins? Wiggin had a fine career and while he went to Georgia with Donnan, he did lead the Herd in receptions one year. Gary had one shining year in the NFL and also went to Georgia but he backed up Parker one year at Marshall. Gatski played at Auburn as well as Marshall...just a couple worth considering.

  • I would have Bartrum higher. He was the best in the league at his position for many years.

I gave Gatski a pass since his time playing here was interrupted by the War otherwise he'd finished his career here.

Bartrum was hard to place for me, because like you said, he was considered the best Long Snapper in the league for a while but, I don't know who I have ahead of him that I'd move down in order to move him up. The amount of more snaps everyone in front of him played weighed pretty considerably in my ranking. But, I wouldn't complain too much if someone had him a few spots higher either.

Neville Hewitt - throw in assisted tackles he has 486. Great career and he is heating up again.

Dalton Tucker - seems on his way making a name for himself

  • John Grace had an amazing CFL career, but I realize that is not the topic of conversations. Still, he was a three time CFL All Star and defensive POY in 2005.
