  • So even tho we haven't heard anything concrete this recruit just let the cat out of bag. Now I wish the AD would address this with the fans

  • I believe there have been at least three decommit in the last week.

  • So on Nov. 30th he re-posted/tweeted "What a Win" by Marshall Football...and I guess in the last 48 hours Huff ask him to come to Southern Miss.

I'm at peace with all of this. It'll all work out!

  • My concern is if he turned us down twice. Maybe he really does not want to be here. Eventually, he may get hired elsewhere. Which is fine, but what state does he leave us in when he does? If his heart is not in the right place for the University and program. It may be a little worse for wear.

    Bingo!

Wait. Did you just say "Bingo" to your own quote?

It'll be interesting. We are going to find out a sh!t ton about how he feels about Huntington and Marshall in next season's press conferences at wherever he ends up. I see a lot of backhanded comments and bulletin board material coming. He loves to talk...he may work in a Marshall/Huntington jab about every week next year.

  • We weren't going to keep him long anyway. Oh well. We're destined to be average from here on out.

  • This is the first item where it makes me think he is gone for sure.  Before this I thought it was just posturing.  If he let this recruit know then the team knows for sure and I would not have confidence for this weeks game.

Or he convinced him to "decommit" to give him more leverage. lol.

So we are toast?  The current East champ can never bounce back?

    OK

  • The number of high school football quarterbacks we have signed that have made a significant contribution to our program over the last decade  and are not named Rakeem Cato is a short list indeed.

    OK

Winning our division once every 5-10 years isn't really anything to be happy about.

  • Considering we have only been in the SB 2 years and became Div. winner on year three. Not bad.

Check out our record against the SB on years 1 and 3. It's .750.  Intentionally, leaving out year 2 when were down to our 3rd string QB for 4 games.

    2022 - 5-3 against the East 5-1
    2024 - 7-1 " " 5-1

    Total 12 - 4 overall against East 10-2

  • Also Herd Nation. Shame on them.

For what?  Reporting on their premium forum what they've been told.  USM people are the ones that leaked this stuff. HN mods have just been trying to run down what's going on and relaying what they've been told.  That's what you do and people over there pay for.

Huff may stay, but he is 100% in talks with USM.  Sorry.  Correction.  His agent is.

  • certainly not surprised one bit even if Huff had been renewed prior to now.

sigh.  i guess we had relatively smooth transitions from Snyder to Doc and from Doc to Huff.

going forward in this new era of cfb, it seems too much to hope for the chance at a championship appearance without the terrible distractions (that's putting it lightly!).  maybe one day we'll once again get a coach who can get us there within the early or mid period of their contract.
