I definitely don't want Gibson.  We have consistently asked for an offensive minded coach and they have consistently hired lifetime position coaches and defensive coordinators.  He's not even a good defensive coordinator!  NC State gave up an average of 30.5 points per game.   They had one of the worst defenses in the ACC.  Give me a break.....this will be a god awful hire.  I'd take huff all day long over Gibson and I'm not that big on Huff.

I'm not a fan of the hire either, but this year was an outlier for NC State. Might have been an effect of their offense being abysmal. Here's their ranks under him since covid in yards per game:

He did not invent the 3-3-5. Jeff Casteel was running that defense as a DC long before Gibson got a DC job.

He's been a coordinator and he's been around for a while so unlike Huff or Doege like most seem to want he will be able to get quality assistants.

Also he's wanted this job before and he won?t be saying things about the school or the community to explain his lack of success.

If we want loyalty, then being a WV native means absolutely nothing when the guy spent 12 years coaching for WVU and none for Marshall. He'd just immediately leave for their job given their chance.

He was a heck of a hire though and proved a lot of us (me included) wrong from his lack of OC experience.
