  • I said something similar to this on the other board, I m sure Brad has made every effort to sign Huff.  If you?ve ever heard Brad or Huff talk about each other they have mutual respect and admiration.

Huff is saying he doesn?t have a contract now, but last year when there was talk about firing Huff, Huff said There is a plan in place for him, behind close doors, for him to remain our head coach

So Brad assured Huff he believed in him when he was losing, so now that we are champions of the East, all of a sudden he doesn?t believe in him enough to offer a contract extension.  Does that make sense?

In all fairness, Huff is probably listening to offers and watching the job market, saying he doesn?t have a contract is his way of blowing off the situation and putting the heat off of himself and on to Marshall.

Why doesn?t he just sign with Marshall and put this all to rest?  Because he wants to see what opportunities come his way.

Brad is taking the heat and pressure of this situation, and not throwing Huff under the bus, so he can prepare for the championship.

Brad is standing silent and taking the pressure to assuage the Marshall community to help us win the championship.  I have no doubt Brad will make the best choice possible.

We need to keep our composure and support the team into the championship.  The chips will fall where they may.

One of the most sensible posts I have read regarding our present and/or future coach. Thank you for this type of feedback.

Do you guys really think Brad Smith would lose to USM if he didn't want to?

  • Of course, and Brad has a plan to retain Huff and a contingency plan if that is not possible.

  • Here is what is the genus of Coach Huff?..you wanted a championship program again?.this Saturday you will be witnessing Marshall?s rise once again and then to retain my services for 5-6 additional years of me continuing to keep building here is the pay requirement's to fulfill your expectations of achieving continued success. What areas has he been talking about of needed improvements? This guy is being truthfully and brutally honest through his agent! He saw everything at the P5 level without the ?75? prestige and you combine that talent understanding into what we experienced in the 90?s Huff is saying why not and how much investment it?s going to take to accomplish it starting now!

  • Of course, and Brad has a plan to retain Huff and a contingency plan if that is not possible.

Today was Early National Signing Day.  If an extension was reached or was even being negotiated it would have been announced in order to sure up our commitments.  Instead we lost our QB because of the Huff situation.  Smith and Huff are smarter than that.  If thre was a possibility of an extension it would have been said.

No.  What is going on is that Huff has messed around and burned himself and now he's pleading his case to the public in hopes it will persuade Marshall's BOG and Brad Smith to give him a new deal because if they don't he's going to be at the worst team in the FBS come Monday morning.

We found out with Dan what happens when you attempt to go head to head with Brad Smith.  Brad was and probably is still a huge Dan D'Antoni fan, but when Dan dismissed Brad in the end if season meeting Brad fired him.

No one is bigger than Marshall and that is exactly how Huff has behaved the last 3.5 years.  He used USM as leverage to get a bigger salary.  From reports I've seen we were going to increase his other demands, but thr salary wasn't to Huff's liking and he or his agent thought using USM and Temple would push Marshall in a corner and that was the wrong move.  Huff overplayed his hand.

He better be careful because while he's agreed to terms with USM I don't think the deal is final and him begging to stay at Marshall may cause USM to cancel the offer.

Maybe Huff has a tremendous showing Saturday and through a hail mary he gets extended.  However Marshall sources are saying Tony Gibson is the new coach, NCST message boards are saying Tony Gibson is the new coach, and USM boards and sources are saying that Huff is their new coach.  I also know someone related to one of the players that said that Huff has been trying to recruit them to follow him to USM.

Right now all signs point to Huff leaving.  If we weren't playing Saturday this probably already would have happened.

Huff said in his press conference meeting this week that he WANTS to be here AND he said he has NOT been offered a contract to stay at Marshall.
