  • If he wants to stay then he has earned a contract extension and has earned some grace from the fan base (myself included).

  • So, shockingly, someone's lying. Either he was offered an extension at least twice or he wasn't.

It could mean that it hasn?t been presented this week or recently. He also said a few days ago he didn?t want to have these contract discussions during the season. Who knows.

It could mean all.sorts of things.  He wants to stay, but his wife doesn't.  He wants to stay but for a certain price. Etc...

  • At this point, I am just sick of all the drama. I love it here, I hate it here, who knows? Let's just go win Saturday and then let the chips fall where they may. What I do know from all the posts and talk is that we have a passionate fan base that wants nothing more than the very best for their beloved Herd.

Thinking about that he didn't say they were not in agreement or at a crossroads in negotiations. He said it never presented itself.

I take it as a signal to the Admin that he wants to stay. He may or may not have been offered before and not taken it. But that's beside the point he is saying Today he wants to continue being the coach of MU.  Ball in Admin court.

If this is correct, and I think that is a big If, that would have to mean that something outside of recruiting, tranining, and performance ON THE field are in play.  This report doesn't jive with others I've seen from some places I trust today that says it's not about money for coaches, its about potential money for players. This would mean, and justifiably so IMHO, that Huff sees the real chance at being a winner lying directly at the feet of how much NIL money a unversity has to hire its next set of players.  Sad, but i truly believe this is what is at play.

From what I'm hearing today, in order for this to happen, the Admin would have to be turned down from an outstanding current offer, or pull the offer and give one to Huff. I don't think this is going to happen, sadly for me (and many others, I believe), a really good man is heading out of Huntington soon.

Then pull the offer, especially if it?s to Gibson.

  • It could also mean Huff over estimated his attraction to other programs.  Ending up with no extension from Marshall and only an offer from SoMiss he is faced with beggng for handouts from the hand he bit.

  • The Huff slander needs to stop, it's low. He's been a good coach for Marshall, and all fans ever do is complain about either how he doesn't want to be here, his wife or not winning a championship every single season.

We're about to find out just how good we had it.

You can't blame him for waiting to see if a P5 offer comes up. Anyone would. At this point, it's here or there. He wants to stay. It's all in the Administration court now.
As Riley says, we could do a lot worse. Especially, if we have to start over. He may be bucking for more $$ from another interested school, by saying this. Who knows, but
he clearly states he would like to stay.

Now we all know from prior actions COTY is a death kneel to his job.

It appears the decision to part ways was etched in stone long before any COTY was announced.

  • Huff is going to have multiple suitors especially if they win the SBC Champ. I wouldn't bet on Southern Miss either unless they lose and he does not get other options but don't be shocked to see him at a P4 next year.

  • Embarrassing / ass backwards

Tony Gibson - 15 years ago / he couldn?t stop Cam Fancher and Trickett / very outdated hire

These people calling the shots do not know how to do this right
