  • Probably of little interest to any of you, but I finally decided to write what I really feel about the current coaching condition; means nothing to most, maybe all.

I think that unless Coach Huff has absolutely no desire to be at Marshall next year, or there is so much difference in the money involved for/with his other opportunities and what MU can do, letting him go will be the biggest blunder done by MU and MU Athletics in years.  The program is (at least publically) in great shape, the win/loss record is great, the players can actually express themselves with connected sentences and represent the university proudly.  His departure makes no sense, if he can stay, he should.  If it means someone eating a bit of pride inside the univeristy, they need to do it.

  • This is exactly how I feel.

Great post. It's a sad time and it shouldn't be.

It's not anyone's fault at Marshall. It will all come out after the championship game.

Thank you. But it still hurts.

    - If it's Huff's call, that hurts.
    - If it's admin not willing to make concessions, and rush a new hire during championship week, that hurts.
    - Not taking the time to do a proper head coach search, that hurts.

It's been a blow to Marshall. Can't get around it.

    None of this is good.

  • with all this BS, regardless of who, why or when, i now have little faith we'll win this championship we've been waiting for for 10 years.
damn.  last Saturday night, i had all the faith in the world that we could come back from being down against any G5 and many PUs and win.

IF anything close to what I'm thinking happened, it is in fact a big fault to those at Marshall. Negotations are for big boys, not for big bullies. We'll see.

At some point, it's always gonna be an employee's call to stay or go if he's has options.

Because of recruiting, securing a new HC IS time sensitive. You just have to hope that the AD has great candidates in his virtual Rolodex who are interested.
The take your time approach is how USC ended up with Will Muschamp, who makes Doc look like Andy Reid.
In memory of Dr Daniel P Babb who taught so much to so many.

I completely disagree. Taking your time gives Marshall an opportunity to allow Doege be the interim in the event Huff truly isnt interested in negotiating.

It's possible Doege could be a better coach than Gibson. You get to see how the team responds to him, and he is less expensive.

So you're not even giving a candidate the opportunity to do that.

I know little to nothing, but hiring a candidate like Gibson doesn't excite.
