  • Anyone surprised? We all knew most of the players were Huff's players. Let the exodus begin.

The question is; will there be enough quality players available for the bowl game? I feel sorry for Mike Bartrum if an earlier post is correct and he is going to coach the bowl game. Who did he piss off to get stuck with that assignment? There will probably be no betting line the bowl game.

I remember reading that JMU ended up getting a couple of high school coaches to work their bowl game when they lost their coach to IU.

It might be better not go to a bowl game than get embarrassed.

  • If we need a fill in, why don't they reach out to Chad Pennington over here in Lexington and see if he'd be willing?

Worth a shot... Short drive for him and I think he wouldn't mind it. Has had coaching experience after all...

  • Huff will get the last laugh just like he did this year. Almost double his salary and will take our best players and staff with him.

  • There's no doubt that his players love him.  This really shows nothing other than more proof on top of waxing UL.

  • In today's game we better get used to losing numerous players every year. College sports has been ruined by the NIL and portal. I'm not getting attached to any players anymore. They'll just be gone as soon as more money is flashed before their eyes. Can't blame them but as a fan makes it hard to really care.

He's too smart to take the job. Doesn't need the headaches. Tony Gibson is the new HC. Support him.

Who cares if he was a pain in the ass to administration? I understand Spears is a big pain the ass to a lot of good people that have done good work at Marshall over the years.

Quality players win championships......not arrogant admin.

Before getting angry that we are losing players, keep in mind we potentially could have kept Huff and still lost Braxton and Turner. Green is going pro.

  • Huff has a charismatic personality with the players, no question. I think he is above average in that way, just on a personality level.

In the transfer portal age, that may be more important than it used to be. I hope we aren?t under-valuing that quality. Every coach and school out there is doing their best. To have an edge you need some unique quality, either being an absolute prodigy with your playbook, having a lot of money, or having the charisma to out recruit your peers just enough.

This is why we suck as a fanbase. Most of us are busy cheering for "our other favorite teams" and most of us ain't got no dawg in us. Screw being nice. Screw Southern Miss and screw Charles Huff. He can choke on a bag of d!cks.

We are vastly under-valuing what Huff brought to the portal era.

  • Let?s be careful now or this whole team could boycott the bowl game in protest after winning a conference championship in support of our first black head coach ever and now looking to be the last! If, Huff is going to SM is he their first black coach? Hummmm wonders never oh well!
