  • In the bowl.

I think that would be our best possible draw (and maybe the first time a Marshall Football team has EVER played a ranked opponent in a bowl). It would also provide a pathway to finish the season in the top 25.

    BYU was ranked.

Could be a path but curious on remaining players to compete

I think Louisiana was ranked too in '21. We sure haven't played many ranked opponents in bowls even in the glory years.

Doesn't look like BYU was ranked when we played them in bowl. At least not in the AP...they lost the week before which knocked them out of the AP.

I think they were, but could be wrong.

My friend's son is the kicker for Army. Says he has a very high accuracty percentage...because they never kick field goals; just extra points.  Hope we can prove him wrong.  He has spent most peoples retirement on travel to his son's games through the years. Good guy, just hope he loses this one.

I have that game on VHS and have watched the replay many times. On the scoreboard, they had a #10 ranking beside our name and a #21 ranking besides BYU?s. I don?t know if if they were using AP or Coaches poll on the broadcast but it was definitely there. Possibly they dropped out after we beat them.

Edit: Now I?m looking at the historic rankings on Wikipedia and I can?t find it either. Looks like they were not ranked in AP and were 25 in coaches at the end of the season. I would?ve sworn on my life the broadcast said Marshall #10, BYU #21 but I don?t know where they got it. Either this is a weird mandela effect thing or Wikipedia is wrong (possible) lol.

Second edit: now I watching replay on YouTube and I don?t see it. I was 14 years old in 1999. Maybe I have just had those rankings in my head for years for who knows what reason and imagined it. No idea. Weird.

  • Army doesn't have a problem with the portal. They will be at full strength.

  • It will be an awful game. Luckily with Army's ball control offense, it will be over fairly quickly.

At least the pay for the game is good.

It's why I said we should opt out. It will get ugly quick.

  • Why even play the bowl game? Our championship team from yesterday no longer exists.

    2 million reasons why.

  • Marshall is not in the position of passing up a $2 million pay day regardless of what happens in the game or who we can put on the field.

Conference gets the money, not Marshall.

  • Current spread is Army by 7.5. Surely, it will get much worse with all the transfers.

  • It?s arguably the best bowl we?ve ever been to. It?s a shame that the team that won the championship won?t be there to play.

They were #25 in one of the two major voting polls and fell out losing to us. Hell it was a long time ago.
