  • Have fun going 4-8 next year at USM. Signed, the school that made you.
It might be more likely that the Herd goes 4-8. And the rate in which the better players are leaving means that the game vs Army will potentially be embarrassing.

  • Bowl games are meaningless thanks to the transfer portal, playoffs, and players opting out of bowl games to improve their NFL or transfer/NIL prospects.

Bowl games are now an opportunity for players that don't get meaningful playing time a chance to play.

  • I'll bet most of those guys will be at S Miss. if Huff gets most of them and he has another great portal class they will be contenders out of the gate.

Sounds like you need to ask for some Southern Miss gear for Christmas.

  • We are at the same place we were this time last year. We just need to go out and get another Qb. That is going be the process anytime we we have a productive QB.

  • Not dogging on Huff. Just speaking the truth. If Earle doesnt go down, Huff likely has us at 6-6 or 7-5 with Earle at QB.

Conversely maybe if Fancher doesn't get hurt last year huff had 3 straight 9+ win seasons.

Bottom line, they played both QBs early. Huff said they needed running qb for conference play, so maybe tried not to get him killed early against P5.  They also were trying air raid, maybe thought Earle better suited to grow in that offense.  Maybe Earle was better early, maybe Braxton came on.  I'm also guessing that OC you all want to certain has huge say in starter.  Either way they had great year and won title.

He's gone, no need making foolish comments diminishing his success. Get behind Gibby.

  • I guess Cole will start the bowl game.

Well Chad has said his youngest son is the best QB of his kids and he going to play at at D3 at Dayton.

  • Peace out Mr. Braxton.  Glad you had a good year.  Weird when you realize these kids have turned themselves into portal rentals.  Interesting to see who picks up the rental payments next year.

  • Excuse my ignorance, but does this mean he's missing the bowl game? If so, the bowl game will be a sad thing to watch.
There were a bunch of players leaving the Shewey building this evening with bags full of gear.  Since we play on the 28th, and the portal closes at midnight on the 28th, there will be several players not playing in the bowl game.

I don't think ESPN pushed for #1 AAC vs #1 SBC prime time on Sat night just for Marshall to run out the 3rd string. I hope Braxton at least plays the Bowl game before he transfers. If not it looks as if we are down to CP and we might not have played it. If Braxton does play it might actually be a good game and set us up nicely for next year.

It's not their fault... The NCAA and major college football have ruined the sport. Braxton doesn't want to be a part of a rebuild at Marshall either, and a rebuild is probably what we can expect most years from here on out. I'd look for where Doege goes and see what happens, unless there's a P4 that needs him.

Isn't Stone Earle still on the roster? He played well vs. Ohio State.

Nope. He has entered the transfer portal as well.

Agree.  Btw I don't agree it will be a rebuild.  Huff brought in 43 players this year alone.  I don't think TG can be any worse than Huff in picking a QB.  Braxton should have started game 1.  I'm excited with the direction the University is moving and that we have hope of no Huffstrations.

Too be fair that wasn't directed at you, but I see some that sound like a scorned lover.

It's like a divorce, herd fans hear one side of story from our herd family, and we dig in.  I'm disappointed in how it all played out but ready to get on board with Gibby.  The rest should just thank Huff for this year and let him go, unless we are going start bashing other staffs and players but I thought most herd fans prefer to eat their own. Huffs gone

  • Dayton is not D3

    It's nonscholarship FCS.

The catagory is a work-around to allow Dayton, Sandiego, Presby, etc to play D1 basketball.

So it's basically the same as D3.
