  • We?ve heard rumors that part of the agreement to get Gibson involves funding for an NIL package.

Does anyone know what kind of funding we will have for NIL and where this money is coming from?

In the portal era, having a decent NIL account is huge. A Head Coach who can bring NIL donors might be better than coach who is really good at Xs and Os.

  • So no one knows? I?ve seen people insinuate increased NIL, are they just saying that out of hope?

  • That would come from the Thunder Trust.

It is not information that has to be made public. I guess somehow it is considering people on here said we had the 2nd or 3rd best NIL in the SunBelt.

You can donate to the Thunder Trust. You can donate to a specific sport. You can actually donate to a specific student-athlete.

It could, but does not need to come through the ThunderTrust, it can flow directly to any player a company or person wants to work with.  Probably will flow through the ThunderTrust, but it absolutely doesn't have to.

  • I?ve just read rumors that we had big money NIL coming from donors who stepped up to support Gibson.

Just curious if this is true, and if so, do we have any clue as to a ball park range for ?big money??

This will probably determine how successful Gibson can be with the portal.

It is true that we will now have the number 1 nil trust.  But of course that could change as other peoples nil trust change.  Not sure on the number.

Was this published somewhere or just what you?ve been told by people who would know?

Is this for all sports or #1 NIL trust for football?

Do we know what the previous #1 NIL trust in the conference was? If so, that would tell us the minimum ours will be.

You can get a lot of information on On3.  We were talking football only so I assumed it was #1 in football.  Previous #1 in football was S miss.

Haven?t heard an exact amount yet.

  • Thanks to Maclid on CSN board for this link.

According to this our NIL was $1.46 million.

The largest was App St at $1.92 million.

If this is true, and if the rumors are true, we should expect our NIL to be at least $2 million or so moving forward.

That?s pretty dang good if you ask me.

Now this is all sports I think. I would love to know what it is for just football.

We just have to be competitive with the SBC, not the SEC

  • Agreed. All we have to do is win our conference and we at least have a shot at the playoffs.
