  • Hate this one.  Hope it's testing the waters for a P4 opportunity.

He'll get it - he's good.  Whether he'll be "the guy" at a P4 is another matter. He's a little bit undersized for upper level.

  • Dad is alum & legend.  Mom alum too?  Must not be happy with the recent news even with the new HC being a LB Coach.  We have moved up a level with our new HC, why are all these guys leaving??  We will be in the playoffs next year!  WTH

  • We should not lose legacies.  And we should pay legacies, capable of starting and impact, to keep them.  I mean we got him because his dad played here.  We shouldn't lose him because Huff doesn't work here.  He was the leading tackler on the team.  It would not be a waste of NIL.

  • Yates had SEC interest before coming to Marshall. Ohio State would be a dream fit for him.

  • Some of this would be natural transfer loss with NIL.

Anybody who's produced like Braxton, Turner or Yates more than likely even if we kept Huff would have moved on for a P4 opportunity.

We have had former player's children that never give Marshall the time of day. Most of the cases were players who went on to P5 schools.

Think about this, maybe Yates's final decision to attend Marshall was based on that Huff was the head coach?

Whether you like or hate Huff, he has a special connection to his players. As people have been posting when this saga began, there will be an exodus of players. The exodus appears to just be starting.  The fans that wanted Huff gone will have to live with the expression "be careful for what you wish for"

    Just sayin.

He might.  We had a few that entered the TP last year that withdrew, so it happens.

Not relevant.  He is here, now, as a legacy, and we should have done what we could to keep him and maybe we did.  There was nothing special about Huff at the time Yates committed other than he coached Marshall.  No fans determined the outcome of Huff's demise.  What we wished for or did not is completely irrelevant.  And btw, I was for keeping him, always have been, except for two weeks, BGSU and Georgia Southern.  Me along with the rest of the natural world.

A defensive guy with his connections will replace Yates, no problem.  Not about that.  I liked seeing the son of a Marshall great with complete loyalty to the school do well here.  It's good for the fans.  Not much to root for playerwise season to season anymore.  But if he wants to be a greedy traitor and kill his father's legacy, so be it.  He'll be written off like the rest.  I was pleading to avoid that situation.  Persona non grata

    Appears to already be done:

  • I honestly don?t think he?s very good. Stats don?t tell the whole story. He?s rarely the first to make contact at or behind the LOS. Most of his tackles are for 4+ yard gains. I?ve never seen him deliver a blow and drive a guy backwards. He usually gets ?ran over slowly? as I like to call it, with the ball carrier falling forward for more yardage.

Our linebackers were by far the worst unit of the entire team this year.

  • I think Yates fits the scenario about being preached "creating value for yourself" from Huff; he mentioned it in ALMOST EVERY interview, so he is seeking what he has been taught, seek value for yourself.  Can we become that value again; doubt it.  And for some reason these days, money is the only "value" recognized.

I think he is average. That will not get him a look from a school like Georgia. He could end up at a P4 like Vanderbilt.

  • This one surprises me a little unless he's already been in talks with a P4 team.
He was one of the few I figured would stick around.

Maybe they have a different view of Huff than the fans do?
