  • Should we just decline the bowl game?

I like the idea of guys like Ethan Payne, Leggs and Osborne suiting up one more time, but they are going out a winner.

Barring a miracle, we are not going to be able to be competitive and we may place some of our young players at risk. As often as not, bowls are a break-even proposition at best. If you have few players who will return the following season left, how much are you benefiting from the extra practice?

Barring a miracle, we are not going to be able to be competitive in the Liberty Bowl and we may place some of our young players at risk. You're better than that.  Give the kids their week of vacation.  Get some practice time for those that are staying.  Give the new coach time to meet and evaluate his team.  Nobody who understands college football puts any emphasis on bowl results.  Anyone who brags about beating a decimated team with no coach is bush league.  Even the military.

Unless the lines are decimated by transfers, we have a chance.  Right now, none of the DL or OL have opted out although I wouldn't be surprised if that happens and/or if Mike G decides to focus on the draft.

Understand the question, but NO...play the game, get the reps for the kids staying, give them gifts and have some fun.  And put a few more bucks in the SBC and MU athletic budgets.

  • We have zero chance of winning without a QB.  But the guys sticking around earned it too.  Let them have a great week.  We lose 42-0, oh well.  We compete and keep it close, even better.  Somehow we win, great momentum to start the rebuild.

Yeah, I'm not saying we can't win.  I'm just saying the benefits outweigh the negatives if we don't win.  You absolutely play the game.  Play an all freshman team if they want, for all I care.

  • Last year's Indy Bowl had a payout of $2.2 million. I believe that's the highest payout for any bowl we have played in. I don't know how the SBC distributes the money but the CUSA gave the participating school a double share while other schools got a single share and conference got a single. Plus Conference paid travel for team, cheerleaders and band.

Anyone know how the Sunbelt handles it?

  • I know you meant nothing by it, but anything less than playing the game is disrespectful to those who didn't get the chance to say whether or not they wanted to play. There's 75 reasons why we strap up no matter who is across from us and play ball.
