Topic: Players shaft the fans

Should not the players have some loyalty to the fans who support them through thick and thin. The fans support them by supporting the university funding in various programs, nil, attendance in all kinds of weather, etc.  Shouldn't the players represent the program that gives them so much by completing the season to  include the bowl? The NCAA and other movers and shakers in college sports have created this monster of transfer portal. At least have only one period for transfer that, in this case ,doesn't conflict with the week of bowl invites. I know I am prejudiced as a G5 fan but just needed to get this off my chest.  Since the portal is a reality, make some common sense adjustments.

We won a conference championship, which was the primary objective.

This is on the NCAA.  Portal should not open till at least mid-January, just prior to second semester.  This would stop the player AND the coaching shuffle until all but the last couple playoff games were played.  Players and coaches could finish out the bowl season and make it somewhat relevant again.

Expand the playoff and cancel bowl games.

If they want to have bowls they should do it in the spring in place of the spring games. Just play one scrimmage game in the spring. That would be way better.

I see your point but would argue that fans do NOT support players through thick and thin.

If a player has excepted $1 of NIL money it should mandatory that they play. JMO!

Just stop pretending and make it straight pay for play. You get a game check if you suit up and don?t if you sit out for any reason but medical.

I'm not so sure they should have any loyalty to the fans in general. They put in a lot of hard physical work with just the thought of getting to start and even play at all.
I had to do work study when I was there, just to go towards my education.

Or put the bowl game in the player contract that they ALL should be signing anyway as employees of whatever entity is paying them.
