I am done with Huff, but I am about done with Christian Spears. This guy comes across as a real flim-flam man. And I don't think it is good that we continue with him especially if some of the rumors about him having trouble with his pants are true.

From what I remember, just because you hit the portal doesn't mean you couldn't play in the game.

I still feel we will play. Every single team in the country aside from the academies is going through the exact same thing right now. We are not unique as much as we like to think we are.

This is the things that I have to at least put out there...how can we as a fan base, the university as a whole, the city, and the seniors on the team be so terrible that dozens of young men turn their back on what they have collectively accomplished and their sport?

I am sure there are a lot of explanations, but if Huff so persuasive that he is the only reason, he should be in politics, not coaching.

I don't think this particular bowl game will be as big of a deal as it seems one way of the other. We're too close. I do hope we look at if there is a larger issue.

Neal Brown told every player on WVU they have earned the right and deserve the opportunity to play in the bowl game and do not pass on it.

This is a coach who truly cares about his players. You want what is best for them and want them to enjoy the moment they have earned.

He also told all the recruits he would want them to honor their commitment to WVU.

This may have been different if he was going to another school and I really would not fault a coach if a player hasn't signed to recruit them to your new school if it's a good fit, but again it shows class.

Honestly if i was a player and a coach left and told me to leave or not play in a bowl game, I'm not sure I could continue to respect that person and certainly would not want to play for them anymore.

Neal Brown's approach was 180 degrees from what Huff did.  Huff had the future So Miss coaches who are still in Huntington start the day after the SBC Championship game telling the entire team to enter the portal. Those coaches are cancers to our program and the quicker they are out of the building, the better it is for Marshall.   
What we are experiencing is exactly why your head coach needs to be invested in Marshall as an institution and not solely invested in their career progression. With that said, I appreciated the limited successes we had with Huff, but I'm glad that era is behind us and I'm excited to see what the Gibson era brings to Marshall.  Go HERD!

Those coaches are cancers to our program and the quicker they are out of the building, the better it is for Marshall.

Multiple current players, who attended the team meeting after the Championship game have told me what I wrote.  Coach Lockette led the charge. We put the fox in charge of the henhouse.

Since after JMU he and Sherrod have been bad mouth the program and telling all the players to leave and hit the portal.  They're still doing it.  Not just to follow him, but just to leave Marshall.  We've now lost almost every single player that recorded a stat this season.

Never understood any of this.  Should have never come down to any sour events with Coach Huff.  He should have stayed here as long as he was winning & rode off into the sunset to his next gig after winning.  Coaching to move to the top.  Nothing wrong with that mindset.

Ummmmm....who is this "WE"? This would fall on the accountability plate of two main people at Marshall. They would know the most how he was a person. They knew what he was doing long ago. Smith walks on water to a lot of people. From the university standpoint, it is good. From athletics standpoint, he needs to stay in his lane. Spears gives out information to people who want it and need it. But to me that does not make up for some of his personal problems, his crappy attitude towards a lot of good people at Marshall and decision-making that he has within the athletic department.

Yea no one can understand why he's still around.  This isn't new either.  I've talked to several around the program and they all have very negative opinions of Sherrod.
