Yup.  Some of us started seeing it early on while the rest fell for his charm and colorful words.  Listening between the lines you could always see that he hated it here and couldn't wait to leave.  He was an opportunist that thought he was going to capitalize on Doc's players and be in an out in 2 seasons.

He has tremendous damage to this program both on and off the field.

Yeah, I assume you are alluding to the same thing I heard. I have pretty much stayed neutral about Huff leaving,  but "if" what I heard becomes a reality.... All I will say is Huff and Sherrod Everett are two of the biggest pos to ever come through Marshall.

Yup.  They made it their mission to make sure every player possible hits the portal.  Not because they loved coaching them so much they wanted them at USM, but to gut this program.

We ars about to grab headlines for all the wrong reasons.

The biggest mistake that Marshall has ever made will be not firing Charles Huff after last season.

Safety of the players first, honor and commitment to the school second.  But hey, if things like Cole Pennington leaving MU for Gardner Webb are correct, there are a lot more folks to blame for us not getting to the bowl game.  I'm not knocking Cole, just using this as an example. I suspect many other portal gents aren't going big time either, and they could have stayed and played.

Let me just say this...if there is EVIDENCE that Huff tried to scuttle the program, it is a lawsuit waiting to happen. It will also haunt him the rest of his career.

As for me, I can see advantages to not playing the bowl with a profoundly diminished team.

The best part of being a Marshall fan is that we are the most resilient group in the nation.  We have had unparalleled success for a school our size and always seem to bounce back strong.

We suffered as a university the worst possible situation with the crash and we came back.  It is the driving force of the entire university and city.

If we don't play in the bowl game there will be plenty of athletes that want a scholarship and will be glad to play for Marshall.

If what the poster is insinuating is true, I would guess the reason to not announce yet is to not grab headlines and cloud the Army/Navy game today.

Great observation, never gave that a thought.  I'm thinking that would be a good play for us, Army admin would know, and they'll get another opponent. They've not starting prepping for MU, for sure. Their annual "give a %^&*" game is today; and on this Saturday every year, I must say, Go Army.

Never understood any of this.  Should have never come down to any sour events with Coach Huff.  He should have stayed here as long as he was winning & rode off into the sunset to his next gig after winning.  Coaching to move to the top.  Nothing wrong with that mindset.

Some of us posted earlier that cancelling the game might be a possibility. The team was more loyal to Huff than to Marshall so it was going to be a possibility. If it happens we may be the first school to do have cancel a game, but I would imagine it will happen again in the future.

To be honest, I would rather not see us get beaten by Army something like 70-7. We don't the talent to be competitive with all the loss of key players.

This would not be a stain on MU in my opinion.  Florida State was undefeated and then half of their team did not play in the bowl and they got slaughtered by Georgia.

It will bring a spotlight that changes need to be made.

I am giving Gibson a mulligan for next season and hoping for a 6-6 type season and not a 2-12 like what Florida State did after going undefeated.
