  • The only post regular season games that mean anything anymore are the championship games and the playoffs. We won the conference championship. We didn't make the playoffs. All the other non-playoff games are garbage. Who cares we don't play in a meaningless bowl game? Our season ended with a conference championship!

Because we have an opportunity to play a nationally known Army team on national television with the good chance of having the highest television ratings for a Marshall football game outside of Notre Dame.  We now forfeit the highest bowl payout we would have ever received. Plus this could have been conducted like a spring game having players make an impact for playing time next season.  I am beyond disappointed at our administration!

  • What bothers me is this team intact would have trashed this slow, one dimensional Army team I'm watching play Navy right now.

I'll put it bluntly. What has transpired has soured the conference championship. It will be forever tainted in my mind.

All good points. And make no mistake about it, now that Marshall has done this I would expect the better bowls in the future to possibly avoid offering a spot to Marshall after what has happened.

Of course they had 10 months to build a team.

There is no chance to add players to this situation. Blame goes to the NCAA first and second to former employees.

    This is nothing like 1971.

You are correct. We still have plenty of people to play a game.

  • I feel like Huff really wanted us to play. And then lose big and laugh about what happened after he left. I'm glad he won't get that chance. The jokes on him next year.

I think a lot of people like the service academies and follow them when they play each other. West Point and Annapolis play in smaller venues and don't have great attendance. Our bowl game with BYU properly had as much interest since it The Mormon national school. Army is not even same world as Notre Dame as far a following. I mean, have you ever seen West Point sportswear on people walking around HTown?

  • I will always be a Marshall fan but the truth is they quit. It was a decision made with no balls. No wonder they didn?t say much about the game at the press conference. They already knew they were quitting.

I was there for those events, you don't what you are talking about. Five of those game we never even scored. Our highest scoring output was 18 points. It was a brutal season. I lost 5 fraternity brothers and neighbors in the plane crash. Check out the link below for the scores.

The point was they didn?t quit. It didn?t matter how bad they got beat. They fought and didn?t quit.

  • I was told at basketball game that the remaining players decided not to play the game! I don?t trust the remaining coaching staff to coach them either.

No, they did quit in a few games. Were you there to watch the games in person or did you just watch the movie; which is not really factual? I watch most of the games in person. The players were just overwhelmed at times and went through the motions in several games. The team was young and didn't have much leadership on the field. The older guys who were playing were dealing with guilt and PTSD.

We're not paying the price. I feel awful for the seniors who've played their last career game of football.

Getting tired and overwhelmed is not quitting. Excuse me if I reject your characterization that they quit.
