And why are so many of you trying to prove he isn't? Let it play out!! If he tanks at S Miss then he won't get better. But if he turns S Miss around in a couple years then I'm sure the offers will roll in.
I was a big Huff supporter like you. I was talking to a couple of friends in Htown about the situation today. One friend brought up the fact that Huff had applied for at least 12 other head coaching positions before Marshall gave him his first head coaching job. While at Marshall Huff is rumored to have applied for many jobs, but had no luck. I do know that he applied for open AAC jobs including Temple recently. Usually a succesful Marshall coach is hot property, but I don't think Southern Miss is a hot job. You have to wonder why all these other programs see something about Huff, that makes them not want to offer him jobs. I remember when Marshall hired Billy Donavan, Rick Pinto gave him a recommendation. When we hired Jones, Donovan even came to Huntington to help him get the Marshall job.
Just curious, did Nick Saban (a WV native) ever recommend Huff to Marshall? As Ernie use to say, inquiring minds want to know.
I am starting to think like you about Dan and Huff. Both had one hot season and the rest was below average. Dan may have caught lightening in a bottle once and Huff did the same.
