    • I guess we should just go ahead and fire Snyder right now and let it be done. Never mind the man came in at the last minute, was working with all of 6 returning starters on his first team, is playing much more difficult competition top to bottom than Pruett or any other MU coach came close to. Has to deal with a probation that he had no part in.

    Yes, the coaches have made some bone head calls and as a staff, they are young. But the players are not there. This group is not as remotely talented as previous squads, even our 1-AA CHAMPIONSHIP TEAMS WOULD KILL THIS TEAM EASILY!
    There is enough blame to go around no doubt. It will take several more years to get back to winning. My question is - are you man enough to take it and and support this team, or are you going to post bull %^&* about Snyder and be anything but an MU fan. Its OK to be critical , I have more than my fair share of critical posts; but to slam the man when we have really no knowledge of how things are working internally, is ridiculous.

    Everything will be fine in 2009!

    why can't we like pruett and snyder both?

    I mean come on, just because we really want snyder to succeed doesn't mean we need to rip and blame Pruett nor do we need to avoid criticizing snyder as needed.

    i think snyder has made plenty of mistakes, i also think he is learning on the job, i also think he'll probably get us where we need to be eventually (i don't know that for sure), I also don't think we needed to take this big of a step back wards to start wtih.

    i'm just a guy who likes to remember all the great wins under pruett and a guy looking forward to the same under snyder.

    does that make me a pruett ass kisser? or does it make SV a guy swinging from snyder's nut sack?  

    I don't know.  Go Herd.

    • All reasons we need to stay together and not get too upset with this team and coach....they need time...I said at the beginning of the season maybe we would get to 4 wins....and I ALSO said, 2007 is our "new begining"...we go bowling again in 07 and likewise start making ourselves known in CUSA!

    I believe the media started the 07 start. Im a realist and an optimist. My realistic side says this is a rebuilding prject thats going to take 3-5 years. My optimsitic side says we are going to run the table and still make a bowl like my Steelers did last year and won the Super Bowl. But if not it will be next year. I believe we will be back playing true Marshall football in either 08 or 09.

    Is this to say we will be winning 10-11 games a year, no I don't think thats going to happen to often anymore. This conf is to competitive for that. I do believe that we will be winning 7-8 maybe even 9 games and getting a crack at the conf title every other yr.

That what history would indicate at other schools. We are special, but not that special. It takes time to recruit and develop players and face it. We went from I-AA to a mediocre I-A conference that got much better while we were in it, to a better conference. That kind of adjustment takes time, we thought the Marshall magic would continue at the same rate it had.

    But even the ardent realist will have to admit that both last year and this year we are underperforming.

    Why did it get better, we forced it too. Most MAC fans will disagree with that but its true. When you take your fresh IAA team straight to a IA conf and dominate them like we did then you know how bad the cof was. Not 1 school had a recruiting officer on thir staff at the time. The coach looked at the players on paper and said yeah I like that guy, and they sent him a letter.

    When the MAC starts making cuts in their budgets that will be the first to go, is the recruiting officer.

    With that said, we still should probably be 2-0 in the conference right now.

    People take cheap shots at Pruett all the time! I'm BLEEP sick of it! The questions that people are wondering aloud are valid points!

    • We don't have to rip either coach. I loved Pruett, he did amazing things with this program. But he even had a few brain farts along the way and I'm sure he would admit it.
    I like Mark, great guy, another MU alum, he will be OK in a few years. I will be totally shocked if we aren't winning again soon - 2009.

    I think Smock or Chuck started this 2007 is the year businees. I would love for us to turn it around next year, yes, we possibly could, but there are still too mnay leaks in the dam to be confident at this time as far as '07 is concerned.

    '08 - it looks like we'll be breaking in a new QB and RB, plus a few other positions.

    As far as who recruited the Championship teams players - 1992, I believe a large portion were Chaump leftovers and about a 1/3rd were Donnan recruits.
    1996- 95% were Donnan recruits. Bobby brought in Randy and Kresser.

    Bottom line, we're all upset and angry, lets hang tough, suck it up and we'll weather the storm. Hey, the sun will continue to come up every day, its a new start.

    • Snyder received full benefit of the "Pruett Pass" last year when we were 4-7.  If that "pass" hasn't expired, it most certainly should at the end of this season.  

    No Pruett lovers here.  Just Marshall lovers.... and it's tough loving something as ugly as 1-5.  We'll love that child, but our disappointment is becoming difficult to contain.

    Dont know about that.....Street and Smith Magazine had us doing well...

    Why do you feel the need to trash the greatest period in Herd football history?  Is it by doing so you feel that it makes Snyder's pathetic W-L record acceptable?  Notice I didn't say Snyder was pathetic, but his W-L record is pathetic in deed, at this point.  At the end of the day, that's what he'll be judged by.

I know Snyder cam in under some strange circumstances but, 2009 to start wining again?  That is way to long for a program like Marshall.  If we aren't winning by then we may fall back into a mode of 20 years of not winning.  Snyder gets a pass this year(he needs to show progression though) and in 2007 he better be in a bowl game.

    Jim Donnan did, he recruited the seniors from the '99 team too. If Pruett recruited as well as Donnan did we'd be in great shape right now.

    • Jim Donnan did recruit the the IAA Championship team. Kresser propably would not have came in if Pruett had not came though. Personally I think Donnan is head and shoulders the best coach and recruiter we have had in school history. however he nor Coach Pruett is  here and we need to support what we do have. Coach Snyder came in under tough circumstances. Give him his due time before we judge.
