  • Why can't the school when contracting with a player make the contracted extended through bowl season?  Why is the contract up after the regular season?  Also, why is the contract only limited to one year?  Not sure why the contract can't be for multiple years and if the player wants to leave prior to the contract expiration there could be a buy out clause.  Just not sure since we are now dealing with professional athletes with agents that the contract are so limited.

I just don't understand some of this NIL stuff

I?m not a contract lawyer.  But the schools policies and state laws control their contracts along with the players/agents.  Not sure if that helps at all as to I do not understand it myself.  But seems like it could absolutely be written into a nil deal.

  • It absolutely can be.  Problem is who wants to go first?  First guy to bind a player to a contract is going to be a real bad guy and lose some players.  It's going to take a majority of schools to enact this at once so no one is singled out, even though it is needed and they all want it.
