  • Yep, mistake cost us there.  Think he miss hit it
    I do too.
It looked like he wanted to get into the air.
I didn't see whether he played the ball off of a Marshall foot or not.
In memory of Dr Daniel P Babb who taught so much to so many.

  • Congrats to Vermont, they took advantage of our mistakes, that is what good teams do.  We had two major ones, they scored on both.  So you can "what if" forever, but it happened, and we are runners up.  Doesn't feel as good as being champions, but there were just two in the game.  I'm confident a couple of our players need "lifted up" tonight.

  • Sucks to lose. Great turnout of Herdfans. Played hard.  They won on the long ball and using their big bodies all year. Great season for us. Two College Cups in 4 years. Not many schools can say that.
    Reload for next year.

  • Control of the ball by our goalie in the final minutes was the mental mistake which caused the overtime.  Did not need to kick the ball just catch it and drop to his knees. Unfortunately we did not maintain control of the ball. We played arrogantly the whole game! Like who is Vermont anyways well now you know how to loose arrogantly and there endth the lesson.

  • You?re not wrong, but I promise none of us are more disappointed than the guys on our team.

They played their hearts out and came up short.

Super proud of this team as well as the program as a whole. All of those guys represented us well. Fujita dislocated his ankle and came back tonight trying to play. Talk about grit and toughness.

I went from never watching a soccer game to scheduling my week around the Marshall soccer games all season long.

Happy for Vermont. At least we didn?t let Ohio State or one of those type of schools win it all. Vermont is similar to us in 2020. They won their first ever NC.

I wonder if we will see them in the regular season at some point in the future?

I think you saw it wrong. Ball was played back to GK by our player. He had to use feet but miss hit the clearance. A lot of sloppy play tonight. They bodied us off the ball numerous times. Tough loss. Good season Herd

  • Before Chris we had very few chances to even be in the tournament.  We have the second best record in the last
four years.  Second only to Clemson.  We have been in the championship game twice.  One we won.
We are doing fine in soccer.  Two big mistakes cost us the game.

Agree, mistakes cost us, but I also think the injuries hurt us too. Needed Fujita and Dos Santos at full strength. I think Vermont was very good at reading our passes and cutting things off. Credit to them and again congrats to our guys for an amazing season and continuing to give us so much to be proud of.

  • Lots of credit to Vermont.  They played their game.  We played well, but just made a few mistakes that they took advantage of.  Thanks to Coach Grassie and all the players for a great ride.  Reload and get ready for next year.  Have to admit, its been more enjoyable watching this the last week or so then it has watching what is going on with the football program.  Thanks again!

  •  Just hope this is something Grassie puts a focus on in the off-season. We lost multiple games this exact same way over the last two seasons.

I understand he knows more about soccer than I ever will. I understand it?s part of our style, but if we clean this up then it?s hard to explain how good we would be.

It?s really something that has gotten worse the last two years. Our championship team didn?t have this issue. It?s impressive our team made it this far while still having this major issue imo.

  • It would have been a big boost to the fans with a title based on what we have been through lately but I will give Grassie a lifetime pass.  Pretty amazing that we have won a national title and finished second in the last few years.

Fans have also been great during this run...

    Go Herd!

  • I watched the last 20 minutes. First soccer I've ever watched... holy %^&* it's boring. It's like watching a football game where a team marches 80 yards down the field and then runs it back to their own goal line to reset constantly.
