I thought it was interesting that the funds for the banquet were spent by previous leadership and it was implied a week or two ago that Marshall was not having a football banquet because there was no money. I am glad there was a banquet and our Herd Family came together.

I am a son of Marshall.  If you know me and spend any time with me, at some point our conversation will turn to what my definition of a ?son? or ?daughter? of @marshallu is defined as.  It usually is a banal exercise in me hearing my own voice where the audience feigns interest in my soliloquy.  The only one that generally would engage with me is our beloved coach Dan.  I digress?

Tonight I got to see those sons and daughters help begin the healing process.  Not for themselves but others. For our players.  Our team.  I got to see champion football players smiling.  Interacting with the community.  Engaged in OUR culture.  Wearing the M proudly.  I saw those sons and daughters work their butts off to make the message about the team.  Not a single individual.  To make those most alienated in this drama (the players) believe that they too are Sons of my Alma mater. And not simply commodities to be traded.  Their voices and their place in our history needs honored.  And it was.  Thanks to those Sons and Daughters. 

I?ve been very reflective recently.  Emotionally spent.  But those same Sons and Daughters shook my hand.  And made sure I smiled.  They are ?holding the wall? while others try to crumble it.  External influences won?t break them.  And I thank them.  They are positively affecting change in spite of negative energies surrounding.  They deserve accolade.  And a hug and handshake.  They are the definition of what a Son or Daughter of Marshall really is. 

Thanks to their healing efforts, I?m on to a new page.  Defined by my passion for my community and my Alma mater.

And the championship we have to defend.

Obviously the money was there anyway, Marshall gave NC State $25,000 to hire Gibson.  They also should have had this coming together the night Huff left so half the team would play in the bowl game and not go home or go in the portal.

Nice note; would be nice for us to know who the writer is actually speaking of. We too, then, could make sure we are respectful and assistant when possible with these young men.  I could speculate, but I'd much rather know.

There was always going to be a banquet.  You guys need to realize that Charles Huff is a disgruntled former employee who did everything he could to harm Marshall on the way out, including making things up about NIL and the lack of a banquet.  He gambled, and expected Marshall to match USM's offer (it had already offered him a far better deal years ago, which Huff turned down). 

Now, he makes 50k less a year than coach Gibson and has to coach at a school that went 1-11 last year.  More importantly, he has 1.25 million less of guaranteed money on his deal than coach Gibson.

Huff is an extremely manipulative and dishonest person.  You basically can't believe anything he says.  Marshall took the high road and will likely end up much better off in the long run.  You never know, but Huff's chances at long-term success are very minimal based on how immature and silly he is.

Take a close look at the picture. I see a lot of women and older people in the crowd. I wonder how many players actually showed up since it isn't a very large crowd.The banquets I have attended in the past had larger turnouts since it was open to Big Green Members.

Sorry,  that was a quote I pulled of of the post. Let me fix it to show as a quote. But from the picture I see very little players.  Neither here nor there because players could have went home and most are in the portal.

Really curious about the mood and atmosphere at the banquet.  I am hopeful that the players who attended were able to enjoy themselves and have a good time.  They put in a lot of work and effort for Marshall.  Thanks to them!  Do hope the evening was positive and was forward looking at the program.

Is that directed at me?  I reposted an X post that spoke about the banquet and how the previous "staff" used the banquet money for something else. I thought the post on X was interesting and shed light on the banquet situation. Just sharing it with the Herd Faithful. I luv the Herd dearly, but certainly not talking about what kind of fan I am. I did not make the post on X, just sharing it. Thought is was useful information since there was discussion about the banquet.
