thats a school/player decision.  The school can allow portal players to play, but the player does not have to.  So to your question, nobody knows.

I assume most other schools don't have coaches that encourage their players to enter the portal.

I keep reading this rumor but is there any concrete evidence? I would think if it happened, the seniors and players that stayed would talking about it in the media and online but I haven?t seen anything.

They're not denying it either.  I've heard from several people that it happened at a team meeting right after coming home from Louisiana.

16 Jax State players in portal and 13 are playing against Ohio. If Huff did encourage players to sit out I hope Herd fans remember when he comes back to town next year.

Probably because the guy we made interim coach was supposedly telling players not to play in the bowl game. The overlooked part of this story is that we wouldn't have had a coaching staff for that game.

Like I said in another thread, I don't think we knew just how bad things were gonna get when we accepted the bowl invite early Sunday afternoon.

Another MU poor decision .... Ralph Street should have been made interim HC for bowl.  He bleeds green.

Well the players are adults, they made decision no matter what advice was given and by whom.  Obviously the majority of our players were very loyal to Huff. Many would find that to be a redeeming quality in a head coach.  In any case, since our administration made decision to move on based on Huff interviews (why anyone would expect a coach in last year of contract not to look is baffling as well) did they have no idea how loyal team was to Huff and what can happen with nil/portal?  I mean we accepted best bowl bid ever then withdrew so it sure looks like they were clueless.  Totally unimpressed with Spears.

Earlier bowl games like this week still allow time to visit etc and decide on a school. Marshalls game being on 28th the portal closes then so most guys have to take visits and make decisions before then.

Don?t think they expected this kinda of fall out. (Portal/Staff/etc). Spears also likely was thinking with the wrong ____.
