What?s funny is Braxton leaves and people are upset we lost the coach that was too stupid to start him the first 4 games because he believed Stone was better.

They followed Huff. If huff was here so would they. They want to play for him. S Miss isn't paying anymore than us. We offered Braxton 180k plus vehicle and living accommodations. Mcdriss is right about Marshall making a huge mistake because of pride. Next year could have been a huge year. Coming off a huge bowl win against Army and most likely a second SB title. Our administration screwed the pooch!!!!

If DD wouldn't have left we wouldn't suck as bad at basketball because of all the players that hit the portal and left.

Huff blew getting to the CFB playoffs.  Braxton starts better chance.  Now we are improved so we should do it in 2025.  We leveled up.

AMEN to that!  these huff-lovers are just ridiculous!  the guy had a run of 7 games -- not a whole season (see quoted post) -- where he coached like he had a clue.

Unfortunately, Mic is on the spectrum and can't let go of a thought once they've locked in.  Eddie George, anyone?  Tyson Bagent?  Chad Pennington? Now, it's Charles Huff was our only salvation.  Never learned as a child that repeating something over and over doesn't make it true.  Board name should be Xerox.  Every post is exactly the same as the last.

You fail to mention that the rest of the starting oline graduated and wouldn't be at Marshall even if Huff was still the head coach.

Ha! Now every coach that has ever made a a starting qb change is stupid.  At the end of the day he led team to title so.....

Man a few people on this board are straight melting.  Huff and his staff were a cancer and unfortunately to get rid of cancer you have to cut it out and everything it touches. There is a good chance we suck for the next couple years, but I?m going to give Gibson a chance to get out of this mess.  Anyone that still supports Huff should switch to be a S Miss fan.  Or stfu and quit making childish comments in literally every thread. JMO have a nice day

Huff stated even before he ever gave Braxton the QB job, that Braxton was a leader of the team. With Braxton signing, I wouldn't be surprise to see a lot of Marshall players follow him to SM. Maybe 20 plus players, who knows?

Get ready for the national media to have a field day if 20 plus Marshall players transfer to SM. Marshall will become the poster child for the portal problems. Passing on the bowl game will only be a sidebar to the situation. Hang on fans, it is going to be interesting if we lose 20 plus players to SM.

Huff wanted to stay. Even said so but our great leaders was going to show him by putting up a wall and hiring Gibby. Now S&S is going to have to live with that miscalculation.

Do you realize he had filmed videos at USM before he really ranted about wanting to be here?  He had many chances to take extensions but decided to not take them. He wanted no buyout which is silly. We had a tough buyout because all he did was look for new jobs.  It?s time to get over him. He didn?t want to be here or he would.  No coach in their right mind wouldn?t take extensions like he did.  Buyouts are nothing to programs when they want a coach. And don?t think for a minute had he warranted interest from a P5 program and he had a large buyout they wouldn?t blink an eye if they wanted him. He went to a 1-11 program because nobody wanted him. 

Like others said?how long did it take for him to even start Braxton?  How many of those games we made a run in were actually almost lost the same way as Ga Southern?

It is time to move on. I didn?t want him to leave but more I things I found out it is the right thing for our program.  He will leave them high and dry as soon as he can.   We will be fine. Gibby will get players and staff and you guys that can get over the break up will have your eyes opened. If you truly are having such a hard time getting over a coach that didn?t want to be here leaving you should probably stop watching college sports because it?s going to be nothing but change going forward.

Gibson stated he was going to try to talk to the portal players and try to get them to stay at Marshall. I was hoping he could change a few minds and it is still early in the process. I hope Gibson is a good recruiter and can work the portal. He also needs to get some Freshmen signed to keep balance in the program. Gibson is facing a big challenge and I hope he can quickly rebuild the roster. Welcome to the new world of college sports.

This is sad, comical and embarrassing.  So many emotions.  We have nobody to tackle him or stop his arm.  These players loved Huff.  Listening to him and his videos I understand why.  And he is a Championship coach.
