  • Guess we're getting the full Rich Rod offense. They ran 646 times and threw 315 passes this year

  • And this year we had 333 pass attempts and 509 rush attempts.

he woulda been a fool to have done anything different.  their RB was like a 1600-yard rusher @ 6 yards/carry.  any coach with any sense at all is gonna give it to that kid all day long.

  • It is also being reported that Smith requested more control over the offense and there are reports that he was offered the WVU job.

Didn't mean to make it sound like a criticism. I don't really care what offense we run as long as it's effective.

  • I certainly do NOT know; but why is Brewer supposedly a great hire. He did "supposedly" coach Moss, but how hard could that have been? I hope he has great success at MU again.

  • Statistically we attempted passing plays 37% of the plays and Jacksonville attempted passes at 33%.  I looked back at the Offense play selection while they were at Arizona:

    2012 :  508 runs, 579 passes
    2013 :  647 runs, 383 passes
    2014:   575 runs, 564 passes
    2015:   527 runs, 466 passes
    2016:   509 runs, 306 passes
    2017:   613 runs, 295 passes

Brewer was at Marshall from 96-99, literally the most successful run in the history of our and frankly many other's programs.

He was WR/co-OC at Marshall. I don't believe he was co-OC all four seasons. I think that came later.

So that means he coached Randy Moss, James Williams, Nate Poole, LaVorn Colclough,Jerald Long, Lanier Washington, David Foye, Tim Martin (1 year).  All of those guys did very well here and yes, Pennington/Kresser had a lot to do with that, too, but it takes everyone to be great, and they were great.

  • Rod Smith is an excellent hire.

Brewer did great things with the receiving corp at Maryland. Jones, Felton and Prather developed much better under Brewer's guidance. I thought Baker did a tremendous job with the secondary here. We were much improved and better coached. I like bringing in a guy from one of the top conferences. I wish we could have kept Baker as well. He didn't appear to leave with any disdain on his way to Temple.

These are two good hires. I am anxious to hear the rest of the staff.

Agree. Rod Smith has developed some great QB's through thr years. A lot of QB's will want to play in his system. He runs that Up-Tempo style that we all like to watch too.

    Great hire IMO.

I saw on his Twitter page that he's being followed by Charles Huff.
