Corny doesn?t deserve a 2nd year. Just being honest.

He will get it because he is cheap. And our administration doesn't give two flips about the basketball program. They just want to win enough to not lose all the fans. If they can keep 1500-2000 at the games then they are happy.

Don't know if trust is the correct word. I do believe that Smith and Spears will let the basketball program reach the lowest level in Marshall modern history. They will let us blend into this God awful basketball conference. We go .500 in the SB and people will say we used to go . 500 in CUSA when we first joined. But that conference was light years better than this conference when they had Memphis, Houston, Tulsa, ucf etc,,, those Donny Jones or Tom Herrion teams would destroy this conference. Heck Freeman's teams would get in the top 3.

Well, for the future of Marshall University basketball, that won't get us anywhere. We aren't building the fanbase. Henderson Center the last couple of years has had little to no energy. We have problems in an arena that should have a little more bounce in it during games. I am tired of pandering to those that Dan made feel like they were part of the program by rubbing elbows with him, getting to sit next to him and tell stories, open gym access, etc. You don't build a program that way. A lot of the fans that I see more and more are an older crowd. That is fine, but there is no excitement with a younger generation. And I am not just talking the student body. I just don't see a lot of late 20 year olds / early 30 year olds in the audience.

We need a coach  who knows how to work supporters both young and old, rich and working class. People will support a basketball coach at Marshall when they see ballers and potential on the roster. People will then support a coach that they know will (a) value the dollar that is donated and (b) try to bring in the best roster possible. Hell, Rick Huckaby could squeeze a $25 donation out of a vagrant sitting on the corner of 4th Avenue and 12th Street.

Corny should have gone to NC State when he had the chance. It would have been a better move for him. He was hurting today on his post-game interview. He took this one hard. He needs help & that is the school's job to help your new head coach. You don't strip him of one assistant coaching position in his first year. We have to get a 3rd or 4th chair assistant coach from a power conference team to come here and make him the #1 assistant. Corny has to have what other successful coaches have had and that is an ace recruiter on the staff.....a guy with Metro connections.   It seems like Mark Cline has been here for an eternity.

And he has got very comfortable because I never saw him do much of anything. The BB program has been on a decline for a few years with no end in sight. And what's worse is no urgency to make it better.

I've had season tix since White.  I haven't stepped foot in the Henderson Center this year and it's really an after thought now.  I'm sure I'll make it down at some point but I'm pretty apathetic.

Our administration continues to deliver.  Thankful for Grassie so there is that.

Oh, I agree 100%. Our fan base is shrinking. I bet the average age of our b'ball game attendance has to be over 50. That's not good for the future

Well if it's true that NIL will be 3 to 4 times more next year hopefully we will see better talent. The talent now is ok if we had 2 stud ballers on this team. It's a solid nucleus to surround a couple legit players. Add an Elmore type player and the big kid from S Miss Harris to this team is all you would need to roll this conference. It just takes a couple really good players to go with the usual cast we typically get to breeze thru this conference.

I think we have talent to compete in this conference. But Corny needs to get more toughness and discipline from his team to execute, especially on the road and be more consistent at the FT line.
