Looking realistically at next season, Southern Miss will undoubtedly be better. They essentially have our team from this season (minus some players/coaches here and there) and Huff, like him or not, does understand the transfer portal and will fill gaps where needed. I feel Southern Miss will seriously compete for the Western Division and go to a bowl. Huff's hire has re-energized the Golden Eagles' fan base and their season ticket sales will reflect that.
Marshall is in total rebuild mode. Gibson will have his work cut out for him and, most likely, will need a 2-3 seasons to get our feet back under us. I feel next season we'll be middle-of-the-pack or near the bottom of the East Division. Besides Georgia (A), our OOC schedule is pretty lackluster...Missouri State (H), Eastern Kentucky (H) and Middle Tennessee State (A)... which may play in our favor and help us with our overall record. Despite Gibson being a new hire, I feel the weaker home schedule won't help with increasing season ticket sales.
Btw, this post isn't about supporting one coach or the other. Just prognosticating how I feel next season will go
