  • The lack of a QB so far is kind of encouraging to me. It hopefully means we are still in the running for our top 1-2 QB targets.

Might not be in a hurry. May want to see what we have then see what enters after spring. We all know after spring will bring a mass exodus from kids looking to start that lost battles.

Who cares when one of our players go to SM! If you're not for us, you are against us.

It just seems like what is leaving is better than what is coming. At least so far anyway. With Huff taking all those starters and how we know he can work the portal. If he recruits the portal in the spring like he did here then he is going to make them a contender in his first year when you add a good portal haul in the spring on top of taking our starters that win the conference.

Who cares if USM is a contender in the west?  Not our division and we don?t play them.

Well people that are for us are curious about whether our good players stay or leave.  Some of you are so butt hurt over coaching change you can't think straight.

Well, I think most posters realized that we might would lose a lot of players if Huff left Marshall. Losing some many starters and quality reserves from the team is just going to make it more difficult for Gibson next year. I hope Gibson does a good job recruiting the portal or it might be a long season next year.

  • I don't even know who committed to Southern Piss and don't care. They won't make a bowl next year, even if they had the Chiefs offense.

  • Here it is for me and I suspect for most all Marshall fans no matter the sport?.dominate period and win championships. I don?t want respectable or .500 seasons or also runs. Huntington, WV and WV needs and deserves better! The energy that the football played at Marshall during the 90?s was palatable. Yes we just won and lost a bowl championship in one moment because of this Coaching change and failed to field a bowl team which some feel shorted. Tony Gibson has his wish/opportunity now to Coach Marshall. Two things that will convince me that we have a ball Coach. Win and repeat as Sunbelt Champs and when the opportunity comes kick SoMiss ass while headed to the Playoffs and win the whole thing! Oh, and kick WVU?s ass while we are at it! Sounds reasonable to me!

Keep on listing things that are not going to happen. May not see Southern Miss for 2-3 years or longer. Huff may not even be there. We likely won't play WVU and are probably not making the playoff lol. Merry Christmas though

  • Filmjunky: that is the most progressive negative view of Marshall politically as usual in this state republic. There will come a day when all things are possible for our beloved University.

  • Looking realistically at next season, Southern Miss will undoubtedly be better. They essentially have our team from this season (minus some players/coaches here and there) and Huff, like him or not, does understand the transfer portal and will fill gaps where needed. I feel Southern Miss will seriously compete for the Western Division and go to a bowl. Huff's hire has re-energized the Golden Eagles' fan base and their season ticket sales will reflect that.

Marshall is in total rebuild mode. Gibson will have his work cut out for him and, most likely, will need a 2-3 seasons to get our feet back under us. I feel next season we'll be middle-of-the-pack or near the bottom of the East Division. Besides Georgia (A), our OOC schedule is pretty lackluster...Missouri State (H), Eastern Kentucky (H) and Middle Tennessee State (A)... which may play in our favor and help us with our overall record. Despite Gibson being a new hire, I feel the weaker home schedule won't help with increasing season ticket sales.

Btw, this post isn't about supporting one coach or the other. Just prognosticating how I feel next season will go

You said part of convincing you that we have a good coach is going to the playoff lol I guess if you don't make the playoff you're a bad coach these days. Get real

There is no rebuilding mode anymore. Huff brought in 40+ players last year and won a title. Gibson should be able to do the same.

Hopefully in year 1 he'll be able to replicate what our previous coach did in year 4.
