Tito, let it be known that I like most others on this board appreciate what information you bring to the table.  However, mentioning the players academic progress is something I need to caution people on.  I dont want myself, you or anyone else to be brought into a situation where we could find ourselves in trouble for mentioning a kids academic progress.   I'll direct you guys to read about FERPA at the link below...

Generally, schools must have written permission from the parent or eligible student in order to release any information from a student's education record. However, FERPA allows schools to disclose those records, without consent, to the following parties or under the following conditions (34 CFR § 99.31):

thanks for the heads up tito ... That is great to hear as far as Filer and Bush ... Obviously disappointing to hear about the shape Leath and Houston are in ... I hoped for big things out of those two, especially Houston ... What the hell are you doing here if you aren't going to put forth any effort ... These guys are given every advantage (tutors & study halls), and you come up here and don't bother to go to class and skip meetings... I fully understand that these are kids, but honestly what could you possibly be thinking?

BEFORE everyone rushes to judgement.   I know tito has brought some great information to this board, but please don't take every word he says to heart.  .  Direct words from Coach Darlington is they are doing great.  Houston has bulked up in the weightroom and is looking really good, and is in excellent physical shape.  Better than ever according to people who know him.

Easy before you judge Houston and Leath by Tito's comments  because a bad reputation is hard to overcome........don't let Tito determine someones reputation, wait and see for yourself before you percieve someone as "stupid" or "lazy".  For all we know, Tito could be the one struggling in school.  
At this point im going to take Coach Darlingtons report to the Houston family over something that an 19 year old college student says.

I personally am pissed that he is continually allowed to grind his axe with this one player.

I agree with Pokey - Tito has had some great info but I don't want to defame anyone's academic standing with rumors.  They've got a lot of pressure since their standing as NQ's coming out of high school is already public knowledge.

I'm not assuming anything for the NQ's until they take the field for fall camp.

What worry's me about all of this conjecture is the new NCAA rule(s).
I do not want us to lose scholarships to this rule, after having worked so hard over the past (10) years to make certain the University puts academics first, and always.  It is important, the athletic department, never lose's sight of the great aim we have in view. We are an University with National Prominence, and as such, Seriously, Academics, come on Friday's, and winning the big game comes on Saturday's.

I meant to preface my opinions with "if this turns out to be true", which like you say will come out in due time ... pokey, you know me well enough to know that I always take the wait and see approach ... to tell you the truth, i didnt even read passed tito's post....i just know when someone posts something like that it can be damaging to a persons reputation whether its true or not.  Ive spoken with people who know James Houston better than Tito claims to, and its apparent that what i hear and by some of titos post that they don't get along.  He makes it a point to single Houston out in whatever they talk about.

Tito whoever he is was still getting pertinent info from places in the Marshall AD dpt and releacing them before they needed to be.

people post hearsay and rumors all the time on message boards.  tito, while pretty accurate misses some too....so he didn't have it all.  he also never said he got it from the Ath department or whereever...so any thing as to where he gets it/got it is PURE SPECULATION....we just know he was pretty accurate.

but for those concerned tito's gone now,  but we can still look forward to program groupies revealing their information and quoting coaches like darlington on a NQ'er(not supposed to)...and somehow that's ok.

i'm fine with all this.  I like pokey's  information 90% of the time.  I just think he had the axe to grind and really went a little over board.

Let me remind everyone that this is a message board on the internet. Everything that is posted here is of opinion. No matter what source is claimed by the poster including myself.

If a certain herd player is screwing up on grades, practice, teammate relations, etc...  I want to know about it. As does everyone else.

But there are rules to follow when a player's personal info is being posted on here. And personally, I don't think them rules were broken.
It was just a matter of opinion.

The whole point of a non qualifier is taking a chance on a kid to prove himself for one year academically then make it to the football field.

If it was 100% guaranteed, everyone would be doing it and there would be less kids out there to snatch up.

So when MU signs there usual 5 non qualifiers each year, fans want to know how their progress is going.

And if a prop can't make it in school for one year, then he can't make it on the football team.

If you info is correct Garbanjo, then that was an excellent recuiting class. I expect to nail 60% of all props. To get possible 6/7 is very good.

I read a post yesterday that said Gamble and Houston were gone.  There was no question according to the post.  I will be very disappointed if this is true.  I have been talking these 2 up for the last week.  I look for them to be big contributors to the program.

What gives?  Why are the so many conflicting reports?  I do not post unless I am certain if the matter is true.  If I do post opinion or hearsay, I label it for what it is and let people make their own judgement based upon the information provided.  Like Wolf said, we are all on the same team.  This is a place to gain and share information, not to get angry at our own fans.

part of the problem is two nonqualifier Gambles.  I understand the RB/DB guy (Phil)who signed last year and has been in school trying to gain eligibility this past year is on his way to playing for the Herd.  The other Gamble (Charles i think) is a stud defensive player who is supposed to enter school this year.  I heard Landon said he didn't think he'd ever play for the herd on the radio.  There could be two reasons for that.......Wilt is gone who recruited him or Landon is speculating that it will be such a trick to even get him in school it is doubtful he ever gains eligiblity.

Houston was a great talent. we had a couple of conflicting reports over the past few months.  one said he was doing great, one said he wasn't.  turns out he wasn't and is gone.  we wish him well, a great talent.

No word on Phillip Gamble from last years class, Charles Gamble the LB from Durham though from this years class, is most likely never coming to Huntington.

Not exactly 6/7 - we already lost DB Sam Walker and QB/LB/Ath Demone Goins from the original set of NQ's.

I apologize for the confusion on the Gambles - in my post on Herd Nation I mixed Landon's statement on LB Charles Gamble of the 2005 class with a discussion of the 2004 NQ's.  Landon addressed both in response to a caller.  From what Chuck said everyone from 2004 is in pretty good hape except Bush who needs only a little more help and Houston who reportedly is working on his eligiblity outside of Marshall.
