a WVU program, erect childish billboards, don ridiculous chicken suits and look like morons rather than exposing any, all while getting slapped with NCAA sanctions for blatant cheating in the process, and now all of a sudden you do a total 180 and expect the same university you "loathe" to come riding in like a knight in shining armor and save your dirt poor program??

Does anybody want to explain why WVU should have to not only support themselves, but support your joke of a program too? Can somebody explain the reasoning for that sense of entitlement?

It's no secret that without a game with WVU, your finances go belly-up. Maybe you guys should have acted less like a bumbling teenager the past 7 years.

No wonder WVU doesn't want to throw you guys a crumb and save your program. And believe me, considering your shoestring budget now has to take on extremely long road trips exponentially more expensive than your MAC requirements, without WVU, your time in D-1 will be brief.........very brief.

Considering how low-rent your "leadership" has acted the past 7 years, it's sure no shock that you guys will never have the pleasure of playing WVU ever again..........let alone milking them dry to keep your program on life support.

Funny thing is most people on the opposite side of this argument believe the same inferences to be true about YOUR school.  You see I do understand your miniscule fan base's loathing of all things WVU. It's a clear cut case of coveting. You covet the length and stature that WVU has attained as an institution. In typical Marshall fashion you covet what you cannot attain. And in hopes of gaining equal status you alienate WVU fans, WVU administrators, journalists and anybody who is even the slightest WVU apologist. So, sir I believe it is you and your fellow brethren with the askewed point of view on reality.  You've taken the inane ramblings of the Pruett legacy to heart and spewn nothing but venom towards Morgantown at every opportunity. Pruett and Angel may be gone but their legacy of goading and bush-league behavior has caused a permanant rift between the 2 state D-1 schools that may never be repaired.  I do seem to remember their "public challenge" to WVU on the steps of the state capital 4 years ago. Their challenge consisted of a proposed 3-1 series in favor of three games being played in Morgantown. I wonder why that proposal today has been met with such dissention among the Herd ranks? It is safe to say that Marshall feels they can accomplish more by publicly flogging WVU rather than proving their credo expounded so many times over the last eight years: "We'll play anyone, anytime, anywhere!" Indeed?!

Speaking strickly as an outsider(though somewhat biased, I admit), I read far more positive emotions expressed for Marshall than about WV, at least for the past 10 years or so. Most of the fan boards I have frequented speak of an overwhelming lack of class displayed by WV fans and coaches. I can't understand why you feel that anyone would covet your program unless you are talking about money. Why couldn't Marshall obtain "what you have"? They already have better fans. Their football team has been nationally ranked and is respected, at least outside your rather "fisheyed" little world. Real football fans don't participate in athletic programs for reasons that have anything to do with money. We go to feel the thrill and sometimes the agony and to forget our real world problems for a few hours in a wholesome conflict.  In  addition, we like to be a part of a winning (and honorable) tradition.

Marshall you don't need to play these twits. Send them some Muesilx and have them come back when they get regular.

Eagle, I couldn't agree more with you.  When we beat KSU, not one couch in Huntington was burned nor did any student or group get arrested for public drunkeness, or civil unrest.  Moreover, not one student was expelled for thier actions.  We, at Marshall, while being ridiculed from our sister school, try to maintain class as fans.  This IMHO, is why schools like PSU, OSU, UT, and VT don't want to play WVU. On a personal note, I am very good friends with a large VT booster, who has told me that in no way shape or form does VT want to continue to play WVU. Why? Becasue as a visiting fan, he stated he fears as well as many other VT fans for their safety in Morgantown.

In one way, it is a shame, becuase their, WVU, football team and older fans shouldn't be punished for their students lack of class. However, until their administration can cut down on the students revelry, they will be unable to schedule the other BCS teams they "covet" to play.
