I'm not saying that MU screwed WVU or not but if you had a verbal agreement with somebody you have no reason not to trust.  Later they backed out costing you lots of money.  Its 10 years later and that person now wants to make another deal with you, would you deal with them?  I wouldn't.

You don't understand what happened, "Pitt fan."  Marshall and wvu (you know, your conference foe) verbally agreed that additional games would be played at Rockefeller Field.  Marshall was under the assumption that the same payout would be paid as in the first game.  After the Chickeneers eek through a nail-biter with a rebuilding I-AA team, they decide to cancel the series by lowering the payout for the additional games, and save face in the state by saying "look, Marshall backed out!"

As always, you are a BLEEP Maroon.

  • Pastilong is pressing the point because he has to save face.

He is solely responsible for screwing things up by changing the terms.
Then, he compounded his blunder by cancelling scheduled future OOC games in order to make room for a series with Marshall  - a series that he had made impossible to happen when he changed the payout.

Most schools would have fired such an incompetent AD.

  • then why did fast eddie sign the one game deal after the negotiations broke down on the 4 game series??

and then, prior to the one game, was quoted as saying we will look to schedule more with MU down the road...he didn't mention retribution then did he.

  • No he didn't Bison and partly, this answers to the other poster who mentioned that it's basically a waste of time because it happened "10 years ago."

Well, lets look at what's transpired in the past eight years. Billboards, name-calling, grandstanding on the Capitol steps by your own administration. Countless classless remarks from your own coach. On and on. But I forgot, you guys were only kidding. It was all in fun, right?

Amazing how we always see in life a person who is sticking out their hand to shake it with the other person at the same time poking them in the ribs with the other hand while asking them for something. It happens all the time and ob course, the person being poked is just gonna hand things right over.

As for murox and his lamebrained logic, the marshall backed out of the series BEFORE the 97 game was even played. Then they negotiated that one-game deal. Gilley nixed the deal. Why don't you guys, FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIVES, ask some of your own marshall people for some answers? Because the deal was set and agreed upon by your own Lee Moon. He even said, "I don't know why we didn't play the whole series." He was quoted saying that.

So, it doesn't look to me how WVU changed anything. You guys just made it all up to make yourselves look good after yanking WVU's chain.

The fact is, you guys haven't owned up to ANYTHING that's gone on for the past EIGHT years. Not between fans, your coaches, administration nor the agreement over the original series. You just want to ignore it all and still expect to get what you want. Remember who is pushing for this series.

yeah, that's when all of the hostility started; when Pruett and Angel got here.   :???:  We had such a good relationship with WVU before that.  They went and wrecked the football series we had for home and home didn't they.  Oh wait.  THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN.

Please enlighten us as to when WVU ever stuck there hand out to us (without raising only one finger)?  Never happened.  You'll also remember that Pruett and Angel offered WVU the 3-1 they are claiming they want.  But they wouldn't take it.

Marshall took a spot vacated by UL.  They didn't have to buy that out.  There was no contract.  We have DOCUMENTED quotes in several news articles that show that any future games would be in doubt.  All they did was sit down and talk.  Just like Marcum and Pastilong will do soon.  If WVU insists on a 3-1 and Marcum turns it down, what are you going to do?  Say that Marshall backed out of another agreement?!  You haven't got a leg to stand on in this argument so stop before you embarrass yourself further.  If it isn't in writing, it isn't a "done deal."  WVU seems to have a problem grasping the finer workings of the contract.  You'd think people with a law school would be better at this crap.  But Marshall could not make them cancel any games.  Nor did they to accomodate Marshall.  If you want to stand by that, offer some financial numbers showing how WVU was adversely affected and show how Marshall is culpable for it.  Otherwise, shut your pie whole.

Actually, Marshall HAS owned up to the fact that they have tried to get a new series with WVU.  Marshall owns up to going to the capital steps and the billboards.  It's WVU that's acting like a spoiled little brat.  I've said several times that mistakes were made on both parties.  But our admin has changed.  We have a new coach, a new AD, a new president.  Yet you guys want to hang on to the past and ADMIT NO WRONG DOING ON YOUR PART.  Screw you.  You guys were just as much to blame as Marshall.
