  • That stupid lawsuit that WVU got involved, proved nothing but it looks like it did set them back 1.2 mil. Lo and behold, state funds will be used to pay for this legal action WVU, VOLUNTARILY, entered into.
If they are so dang self sufficient, they should have paid for it themselves since the WVU athletic dept. was the only entity that had anything to gain or lose.

WV state tax payers paid for both schools facilities, in addition, WVU gets 11 mil from the pop tax for its med school. Hell, if Marshall got 11 mil. more from the state, its AD would be self sufficient as well.

I am glad WVU lost money on this stupid deal, it made them look trivial and needy; although as a taxpayer, it sucks.

  • You're right, WVU's lawyers are checking  into the poosibility of suing this board due to us throwing the bull$hit flag on them once again. I wonder how much this will cost us taxpayers? Uh, I mean "Self-Sufficient" U.

  • I guess we WVU fans haven't been as gracious as we should be regarding this lawsuit.  So, even though it's tough to say sometimes, I really want to thank all of you herd fans living in WV for subsidizing this lawsuit.  It means a lot that some of your tax paying dollars will go towards helping WVU maintain it's BCS status.  And I don't know if I'll be there or not, but if I'm at the FSU game I'll tip my beer towards all those herd fans that help make this game possible.  Cheers.

  • Ouch z13629, that one's gonna leave a mark.  It's about time these douch-bag Herd fans paid something in WVU's favor. I've gotten sick of my tax dollars going to empty seats disguised as Herd fans!

  • z13629, thanks for your post.  That's the point; working together to get things done. Only if the Colonel could realize this.

HELLO  you must be dumber than dumb . The med school was built at the state Univ,  at that time Marshall  was a small teacher college and I believe WVU is still the state Univ   and we are self supported in our  athletic department Marshall on the other hand does not pay the tuition for any athletics at Marshall. this alone is worth millions each year .With out this one piece of help you would shut the doors to all major sports in Huntington, and you yell WVU gets all the help.

  • The Big Green Scholarship Association pays for the majority of our scholarships which is an extention of the Athletic Department.

  • Read the post again junior, I said taxpayer money has paid for both schools facilities.
And yes, I would love for MU to get the 11 mil. WVU gets for its med school. AS I was saying, WVU gets so much funding, its AD can afford to be self sufficient if you really want to call it that.
You guys love to spout that %^&* but then you suck up to the state to bail you out of stupid moves like the lawsuit. Go burn  a couch or throw a trash can, hick boy.

Marcum said on the 1240 talk show today that WVU was 98 per cent self sufficient

  • No, WVU FAN 25601, that is not what my question is. I believe Marcum's statement is correct, but do you have any idea when, and how WVU was able to do this?

    Thanks, and Best Wishes!

  • It is amazing how WVU wants to rest on laurels of Miami, Va. Tech, & Boston College who by the way left the " Big Easy" conference for greener pastures of the ACC. I didn't notice the ACC knocking on your door offerin a invite either. The Southwest Conference used to be a good conference until the quality Teams left it too, correct me if Im wrong but it no longer exists.
