  • No slam, just facts. Bench BM for the remander of the season, start Cann effective next Saturday. I will go out on a limb to say this, IF Snyder returns (will happen), and Kueck returns (99% it wont happen), we wont win more than 2 games next year unless we develop a PROVEN qb by the end of this year.

No slam to BM, no slander towards any part of the team. Its time to prepare for the future, the present is OVER. Bring on Basketball.....

  • Usually I would say no.  That you are just crazy, but I agree with you.  Its not BM fault that we cant win.  I know scouts are looking at him.  But we need to worry about Marshall football.  It is time to throw a freshmen to the wolves.  We can either lose with a senior or a freshman.

  • I agree.  Its really not Morris' fault.  He is doing all he can and its remarkable how much better he's been.  But we will be no better next  year if we don't get experience at QB.  Perhaps we can utilize BM as a slash-type to keep him on the field.  Either way, one of our FR QB need to play.

Agree...I am not slamming BM in any way. BUT, we have to put MU in front of BM at this point. Leaving BM at QB the remainder of the season is totally useless. We will not win another game, with or without BM. I hate to sound negative, but I expect a plan for the future announcement this week OR Snyder better buckle up and get ready for the ride.

  • Bench the best, most productive and most experienced player on the team?  That makes perfect sense.

In normal circumstances, you would be correct. BUT, tell me what good is it to play a Senior most productive, most experienced player on an 0-5 young team? His productivity, experience, or sheer courage will NOT better the team in 08. His playing in the QB role and lost snaps of next years player at the helm is the most important key to winning any games next year. Its not BM, its the situation.

I know you’re being sarcastic, but I’m afraid Snyder just might be dumb enough to take this kind of appraoch..

I agree with you during most years.  But we can gain nothing by a senior playing and losing every game.  I am not bashing bernard, but what is the point for him to play.  We can lose every time with a freshman at qb.

  • BM has no chance of going to the NFL. I find it very hard to believe that any team would even look at BM. Slate, and Legursky yes, not BM.

  • Dude Legursky is  supposed to be a potential NFL center yet he snaps some of the worst snaps he could have ever done.

  • Yeah, I heard the NFL is looking for QBs that stare down wide receivers until they get open and throw inaccurate passes.   Anyone, and I mean anyone, who believes BM is a good QB is seeing what they wish to see.

Memphis started a backup QB tonight.  Let's compare his statistics to BM's statistics.   It is truly a sad day in Marshall football when mediocre quarterbacking seems like a great improvement to us.

Morris had the RB in the left flat with no one around
him, but chose to loft it for Milligan in the back of
the endzone. Milligan should have caught it but it
was a much tougher catch and he had a DB trailing
    him.

Morris as a senior should have taken the safer
throw. BL did the exact same thing in the 2001
MACC ( when I actually used to go to the games )
and it cost us then too.

As many of you who follow my posts know,
I have opined the on the desirability of
pulling Cann's redshirt. But if they do, they
gotta give him 50+% of the season.

It would be a gutsy move.

I think BM could find his way into the NFL in the same way Jacobs, Curry, Jones, Ward and Gabriel have...by switching position...I think he could find his way into the AFL / AFL 2 as a quarterback.

The idea of benching Bernie is one of the stupidier posts that I have not personally been responsbile for.  Let's just go with all on-side kicks as long as we are grasping at straws.

  • I agree..... but the words BENCH HIM sounds hard. We need to get the FUTURE Q B for Marshall on the field and fast. It will only help the team more for next year.Bernie has toughed it out playing hurt, but we need to think about the future. Sorry Bernie nothing personal.

  • How in the hell can anyone come on here and say bernie is a great qb? He can only see one reciever, I admit he can throw the short ball (if that one guy is open) but downfield was there all night and he had no clue. Someone said a backup did better for Memphis. Hell yes he did better. He could see downfield.  the Bernie boys can't see downfield either. We need to put a qb in that can do the job. Training should be over for Bernie, train a new one that has qb ability. Bernie does not have that ability. A backup for Memphis proves we are not getting the qb job done. He showed up Bernie

  • THis thread stinks.  I mean really stinks.

Look.  I want answers too.  But this isn't it.  Now it's about morale.  It's about support.

We need to continue to be supportive no matter what we think.  No matter what we feel.

The biggest thing this team lacks is confidence.  So go ahead.  Tear what little confidence they have left into tiny shreds.

I'm not going to do that.  Ever.  No matter how down I get.  No matter how mad or disappointed or dismal I feel, I'm not going to show it.  Ever.

    Go Herd!

  • I repeat once again, this was intended to not be a trashing thread. But, how many of you honestly would sacrifice another horrible season next year just because of your loyalty to BM? Lets remember, this is MARSHALL...not Bernie Morris University. BM is a good player, but we cannot in my opinion sacrifice the well being of our athletic programs just to fufill a promise to a QB. I like BM, but if it means getting reps to prepare for next year, its time to make the switch. Stupid or not, its just fact.

  • We are not going to a Bowl game. We are not going to win the Confrence.
That being said. It's time to start looking to next year. Get your Q B  for the next 2 or three years in the game NOW. This is not I said NOT a beat down on Bernie. Or we will have to go another year of Breaking in a Q B.
Why can't you understand that ??
