  • How do injuries to the D-line render our DBs incapable of covering and tackling?

Another question, is there an invisible force field that prevents our corners from getting within 7-8 yards of the line of scrimmage?

Last question, does anyone think it was a good idea for Snyder to bring a couple of "quality control (film) coaches" with him from Ohio State and then put them in charge of DBs, WRs and special teams when neither had any position coaching experience?

i couldn't agree more.  I'm all for giving someone a chance but this isn't WV conference or even 1-aa.

  • Our thinner and less experienced DL is not  controlling the line/lanes  and putting pressure on the quarterback...the gap control issues could lead to more difficult angles for the DBs to make tackles (though I doubt it).  The lack of a pass rush most certainly is leading to coverage issues.  There are remedies for this...most notably the blitz, but this requires us to have players like Albert who can at least threaten to  drop into some semblence of coverage...my fear is that we just don't have the soliders to launch an assault right now.

  • a pass rush really doesn't come into play when you are throwing WR screens.  Our DBs are 8 yards off the line of scrimmage and the one unblocked guy typically takes the wrong angle or arm tackles resulting in a 6-10 yard gimme for the offense.

Of course we had great success stopping that play against WVU, which just goes to show you what motivation and adreniline will do.  Too bad the players have only really been up for one game this year.
