  • I've watched the Herd since the 70s as well.  Watched us set the NCAA record for consecutive losing seasons.  Then watched MU become the winningest team in the 90s.

Does anyone believe that WB would have produced the movie if Marshall had lost for 40 consecutive years versus becoming the winningest team in the 90s?  Can you imagine the story without the rise to national prominence?  Winning gives the story tremendous payoff.

If you have a 18K stadium and are happy when 10K fans show up, then we can go back to 1976 and applaud first downs, completed passes and successful defensive stands.  However, if you now have a 40K stadium in a city of 50K residents, then the product needs to be better than "0-fer".

IMO, REAL FANS shouldn't be content with what's happening to our proud program.  Hell, even after the crash, fans weren't content with losing.  We had three coaches in 10 years.  These coaching changes were made by people who actually dreamed that Marshall should not only play, but Marshall should actually WIN.

We need those kind of fans now..... IMO, we need those fans more than the ones signing their names with fluffy hearts and singing "kum by yah".

Hope for something big to happen to this team to change my attitude;  would love to see these guys become successful.  However, if they don't, it's time to recognize the situation for what it is and make necessary adjustments.
