  • Like him or hate him, support him or dont support him, you have to, as a human, want Coach Snyder to succeed here.

Things are lining up very well for next season, sans a proven quarterback of course.

Look at what we have coming back.  Take a step back and look at what we are buidling here.

Crowds and support have been better than expected.
Kids are, for the most part, staying out of trouble.
    Props are getting eligible.
We are not losing kids due to grades.

The big thing not happening right now is we are not winning.

That has to change this weekend.

This is a huge game and pretty much a MUST win.

Coach has to beat someone that he is not supposed to beat.

It simply has to happen this weekend.

So, please, I am begging you, Marshall fan to Marshall fan.

Come to the game this weekend, get a few others to come this weekend, support the team and the coach, if he cant win this game, it is pretty much over for him in the minds of many, as a UAB win is pointless.

So here is our checklist for this weekend as Herd fans.

    1. Come to the game
    2. Bring a friend who doesnt usually come
    3. Get there early for the walk
    4. Let them know how much yuo appreciate them
    5. Wear your green or white
    6. Scream your heads off
    7. Stay till the end
    8. Celebrate a big win for this staff and this program.

    GO HERD

One more week of support is all I am begging for from everyone.

    LETS GO HERD
    LETS GO HERD

  • I will be there.

So are you saying that if Snyder loses this game you are off his bandwagon? This is a big game and I want our team to win but I just don't see it happening. I could be wrong though. We will see I guess. I will be diehard regardless but it is going to be hard for me to continue to support Snyder. We have next year and we always say that but there is no way we should be losing games like we are with the talent we have.

  • Dude, I love your optimisim, but I've conceded to the fact that I go to the games to witness an event.  I cringe to think what might happen in the game.   Yes, I'm brining 5 other people who have never been to a Marshall game or haven't been in a while.  We plan on going early to take in the walk, tailgaiting and to show them the fountain.  I'm hoping that the the atmosphere of tailgaiting and such impresses them enough that they start coming more often, the game on the other hand..... ugh!   :-[     I'm always hopeful for a win, but I'm not getting my hopes up anymore.

  • I'll be at the game.  I'll be there next season and beyond.  The only requirement for my attendance to football games is that it's a Marshall football game.

Not being negative, but answer these two questions.  (A) Prior to the beginning of this season, if you knew that B. Morris would be able to perform to the level he has thus far, what would you have guessed our record would be after 9 games?  (B) If we aren't competive with our youth this year, how is a bigger dose of youth next year going to make us more competive?

  • You're creating drama.  None of these games the rest of the way are must-wins.  Any able-minded sports fan who follows a team understands that this year has been a huge failure on many levels.  I hope they win.  I root for them to win, but lets not make any more out of these remaining games than what they really are.

I was thinking that the initial post/thread seemed to be from another world.  Its as if he has been out of the country and just got back for his first game of the season.  It would be nice to have such a refreshing outlook but only if were justified/realistic.

No offense, but it just sounds like counterfit enthusiasm just because its so hard to imagine that someone could actually still believe that we are moving forward as if we have experienced 3 years worth of progress at this point or something.

Speak for yourself and please dont assume that it is fake enthusiasm, because it is not.

This is a must win game. PERIOD...end of story.

The beginning of this season all of the naysayers were saying we had lost 8 straight games, going back to last season.

Well, I will be saying after game one of next season that we have won 4 straight games.

If you guys can do it, I can do it.

  • I'll be there around noon, and will be at the Herd-walk as always.
I'll be wearing my green and I'll cheer for my team.
But I can't get my hopes up about this game. Sorry.

They are all "MUST WINS".  These guys do not go into games saying, hey lets wait until next week.  Either you can compete, or you cant, it is that simple.

  • This thread needs to go to the Semantics section of the board.  Clearly, we are arguing two different definitions of "must win".   To me, "must win" means if you don't win, championships and bowl game opportunities are lost for the season.  In other words, the season hangs in the balance with the game.  The 1999 MAC Championship was a "must win" because if we lost we wouldn't have gone to a bowl game and, in turn, lost our high ranking.

With your definition, it means basically anytime there is a game it should be categorized as a "must win".   For my thinking, that should be understood that you play to win every game.  Just remember, the football gods don't like liberal use of the "must win" phrase.  Don't make the football gods mad, because we need all the help we can get.

  • geez, here we go again... They are all must wins. This one is no more important then New Hampshire was. Our season is over. Go to the game or stay home, root for the herd and enjoy yourself, win or loss at this point has no bearing on the rest of the season.

Thats just how I feel about it,

  • My point was, it is a bigger game than New Hampshire because that is a game that he was SUPPOSED to win.  Whereaas, this is a game that he is not supposed to win.

Everyone is saying, and rightfully so, that he has won ZERO games that he was not supposed to win.

Thus the reason, this is a big game, a bigger game than UNH, Rice, or UAB.

Give him an entire game not a couple snaps! Another problem I have with Snyder is that he doesn't instill any kind of confidence in his players. Yanking Darius Marshall and Brian Anderson come to mind.

  • Wether Snyder is the coach or not, at this point it would be great for the team to have a strong finish by winning the next three games or at least 2 out of the 3.  Are these must wins - not from a traditional definition of tyring to get to a championship or bowl game, but for confidence and getting things off to a better start in 2008 then yes there could be a "must" element.

That was the plan.....remember New Hampshire....the 1-AA team that everyone is all over Marks nuts because he couldnt win...well Mr. Anderson led us to ZERO points against that squad in nearly and entire half of football......

Darius Marshall gets pulled when he gets tired and forgetst to hang onto the football.

    Next.......
