  • After watching Coach Snyder bring in what looks to be a pretty good recruiting class, I'm prepared to see our great program take some positive steps in the next couple of years. I'm not too active on herdfans, but I've been a VERY vocal Snyder-Hater for a while now. Watching the big picture start to come together is making me lean the other way more than just a little. All that will have to be proved to me now is for us to start putting W's up, which I have faith we'll do. Marshall Football will be what we've all come to know and love again within the next couple of years.

For those of you who've decided to think that Coach Snyder is the devil, and that he's only out to ruin our program and everything that it stands for, please flame away. I could give two sh!ts what you think, and if you can do a better job, I suggest you go to Coach's house and give him all the answers on how to "fix" this great program.

I, for one, will be supporting Marshall here in the heart of WVU-land (Charleston). My co-workers rag me all the time about loving the Herd, and I just smile and nod knowingly. I'm an alum and fan of the classiest school in WV, and I'm damn proud of it. Go Herd!
"What day is it, son?" "Game Day." "What day?"  "Game Day!" "Thats Right! Time to play till the whistle blows!"

  • The fact that we're likely close to adding Phil Bennett to our staff and the names that were out there for the OC spot as well shows he's willing to bring in guys that have more experience than him and really put together a hell of a staff.

He already has gotten rid of his assistants for the year.

I think we'll be OK this year and completely loaded for '09. I would be extremely thrilled with 7-5 in '08 and a shocker season for 2009, just in time for the 10-year anniversary of the 1999 team.

It may sound far-fetched, but if these last couple of classes pan out to be as good as they look on paper we should regain some prominence. At least now we can honestly say that the Herd Stable is stocked almost entirely with Snyder recruits. He's also been able to make some coaching changes as he's seen fit.

I think Mark Snyder is ready to blossom into a fine Head Coach. He's matured and has a couple of years seasoning. The last three years have been horrible but I think he's finally ready to turn the corner.

I will eat crow all day and everyday as long as it means we are winners.  I believe that goes for every herd fan at this point and time.

  • If we make it to a bowl I'll be amazed. I dont see it happening.

Jezze can you believe the number of people that would show for a bowl...like 20,000 we've been so long without one.

  • i've always been one of the "jury's out on snyder"....i sure like the way he is recruiting.  he was put in a tough situation and i do think he's made a few mistakes over the last few years, especially game decisions.

don't worry about these net boys, i think most of them like crow.  look at the bernie bashers.  where are they now, we heard them for two solid years.  hopefully they realized they are not qualified to evaluate college fb players.  if snyder wins, they'll realize they need to shut up about that too.

  • I've said all along 2009 is our breakout year. We could win 7 games in 2008, hopefully we will and maybe more. Snyder will be fine.

I'm talking about the position coaches. getting rid of the d-line coch isn't enough for me. Hopefully the OC and DC can bring in some quality friends.

  • keeper of the greens,

hey i like your enthusiasm, but PLEAAAASSSSSEEEEE don't get carried away with those type of numbers  :o)     I think it is truly sad that the Joan can't get filled up each and every game.......just typical of the fair weatherness of the MU fan base.   I, too, will be very happy to eat my words on the Markster........it has been way tooooooooo long since we have seen positives in our program....maybe, just maybe the CORNER will be turned this year, but I seriously doubt it.

So back to the original post...  20K at a bowl game would be quite a stretch, but would love to see it.

  • To me he has to win in 2008.  Recruiting is fine but, winning is what matters. If recruiting were all it takes Ron Zook would still be at Florida.  He has recruited well on paper(he hasn't had the best classes in CUSA according to rankings) but, the results just aren't there. They should be in 2008.

As for Bernie. He has yet to make an NFL roster let alone even get close to a snap in the league.

Let's hope he makes it and Snyder wins in 2008 and I'll gladly eat crow.

Actually last year and this year we have totalled 14 three star recruits, so far.  Of those 14, in two years, 10 of them will still be here.

  • Along the line of "the juries stil out"... we've seen part of the evidence
(the new recruits) , now I'd like to see the rest of it and a strong finish to the trial, as in better play calling.

I don't think its being a basher when you look at the Coach Snyder regime
to date and find yourself unable to have a case of the warm and fuzzies.

Maybe it's just me and I remember the ninety's too much.

so?  what the hell does that matter?

the point is, many said he wasn't and never would be a D-1 qb.  i think we've established that many of our fans are better keyboard typers than college talent evaluators.  i'm trying to be polite and not call folks stupid.

  • I like Snyder and hope he turns things around in 08. The most disappointing thing of 2007, to me, was the hype (not from internet junkies) but from Snyder himself about how the Herd was a few notches better than previous years. Everyone should remember the interview WSAZ did of Mark saying as such. It really got everyone worked up right before the Miami game. Losing to Memphis, who went 0-3 to Sun Belt teams, showed me we have a long way to go. My point is, if Snyder really believed the Herd was improved, can I trust his judgment. This is by no means an indictment of Mark, but just an honest feeling. I could have handled him saying he needed more time to build....
