  • A lot of people are questioning the WR corp.  It is understandable, but all of the questions will be quickly answered.  Matt Morris WILL have a big year and play a vital roll in the Herd offense.  I believe he is a big time receiver with loads of potential.  Coupled with Filer (who from all reports is on campus and doing well), Fitz, Lauzon, and Spann (if he returns this year), M. Morris will be a force.  He creates a huge match up problem for CB's because of his strength, size, and speed.  I predict him to put up big numbers.  He seems to have a very good understanding of the offensive philosiphy with an uncoachable knack for finding holes in the defense.  He is often overlooked thus far.  After a couple of games, he won't be sneaking up on anyone.

and Spann (if he returns this year)

If we learned anything from Stan's injury. We should learn not to take this lightly. Spann needs to take his Red Shirt this year

  • Concerning Spann, I feel the same way.  He has too much talent and potential to ruin by bringing him back to the field too early.  He could contribute a lil' this year with very high risk, or be fully healthy for the remaining 3 years of eligibility he has.  RS this year.  Be ready next.

Morris starting at a wr position? Skinner to Morris will become something for herd fans to look forward to, IMO. This fellow has NFL talent, no question, and we MU fans are going to be treated to some major college "old days" excitement, if this combination should come about.

  • got a feeling wide receivers won't be as important at Marshall as they've been in the past.

    >>>Our strengths this year will be in our o backs.
Snyder is smart enough to build around that more than the wideouts.

More draw plays...more passes to the tight ends....more guard pulls...more backfield motion

  • Offensive line

If they do not jell, or injury bug hits, or more of the discipline issues surface, or the weight problem has not been fixed,

None of the other will matter...

Sorry, until I see the offensive line in sync, I can't get too excited about the rest.

  • The O-line is a concern of mine as well, but it always is a concern, this season last season ANY season.  No line, no offence.  Looking at the positives:  The O-line did show good play last season.  Remember the drive in the 3rd quarter against the Buck's the week after the Troy game? I am confident that the O-line will be better.

Most teams may think that we will be running more, which could help the WR's and QB's develope.

Not a knock on Stan, but I felt he may have looked for Davis or Bates exclusively, because he wanted to get rid of the ball since he could no longer scramble.  New QB's and basically new WR's.  Thing's will be different this season.

I agree to that.....the game is won in the trenches.  Last year, I saw the problem coming well before the first game.  Early August, the unit reported back to camp "badly" out of shape and lethargic.  Those of us who were watching got real concerned when coach Mchale kept rotating players in and out the entire camp in order to find the right combination.  I knew we were in trouble then.  It's great to have size (mass) on the line but what good is it if you don't have the strength, speed and stamina to endure all 4 quarters?  I remember watching Nebraska play in their "hayday" in the 70's-80's.  Those Tom Osborne offensive lines intimidated people.  Not only were they huge but they had the strength, speed and endurance to knock people off the ball the entire game.  I mean, those Nebraska lines put on a clinic--when they broke huddle--they literally ran up to the line of scrimmage on every play.
