  • every 5 or so years, the market always has to level off and come back down to reality anyway. How many "black mondays and black Thursdays" have we had over the years.

It is the way of the market.

The really last one this big was in 1987. After 9-11 there was also big drop.

I don't believe in conspiracies, but I don't wouldn't be surprised to see George Soros( big Democrat Party contributor) trying to manipulate the markets. That guy is a big short seller and he must be happy to seeing the US economy sinking. He makes most of his money on the pain of others. I also blame the Republicans for changing the rules on short selling a few years ago which enabled Soros and others to do this type of trading.

  • I hope all those greedy_bastards lose it all!!

    They have ruined our country.

All them darn CEOs have raked in the profits while our country continues to sink.

    Serves them right.

Yes, the little people are losing money too and that does suck.

But I am so glad that all these so called free markets will again be regulated and even with a tighter regulation than before.

Everybody got rich off this crap and now its time to pay.

I agree with you brother. That crook Franklin Rains of Fannie Mae made millions off of poor people. He makes Ken Lay of Enron look like a saint. He is too close to Obama and I am waiting for Obama to distance himself from Rains. Rains got a $94 MILLION bonus for his accounting tricks.

You know it is ironic that Enron was so closely tied with the Republicans and Fannie Mae is so closely tied with the Democrats.  It was Carter's nonsense that started this mess and guys like Shumer, Frank, Dodd, and Obama have put us in this hole.  I am not being partisan because GW's gang did a piss poor job of oversight.  So did the House and Senate Banking Committees under the leadership of both parties.  This is definitely one where we can say both parties were serving their own interests while the taxpayers got screwed.  I think every incumbent should be fired for getting us into this mess.  I know there is a lot of personal responsibility as well for people that got in over their head but Congress actively encouraged these companies to make loans to people that had no business getting them.  That started the snowball.  Fire them all regardless of party!  I mean seriously, did anyone actually believe 20-30% growth in real estate was real?  Did anyone actually believe stocks that sold for 4-500 times their earnings would hold up?  This could have been managed much better by 3rd and 4th year business students.  Well, maybe not from USPAM, but everywhere else.

  • I think Paulson said the other day they are just now starting to use the bailout money with the first phase to buy commercial paper to free up the credit lines.

Notice how Dutch Miller is already trying to entice people in with no money down, if you have bad credit come and see us. Amazing.

I think Paulson also hinted that the government cannot bailout every bank that fails and there will be bank failures in the coming days and weeks.  Anybody know which banks are on the verge of collapse? I know BBT is okay, but not sure about some of the others in our tri state area like 5/3, National City, City National, Huntington Banks.

  • My baseball career was nothing to recall, though I loved and still love the game....Cocky it might interest you to know that one of my "highlights" was in one school yard game at Lavalette Elementary, I really cranked one...that hit the 32ยข a gallon sign at a gas station behind the school.  That was a few years after my mom and dad passed on a large parcel of ocean front property in North Myrtle for $1500.  Of couse, the first house I lived in was purchased for $4K...it's all kind of relative.

thank the dems, particularly Barney Frank and Dodd for the Freddie mac and fannie mess............the guys (other wise known as Bill Clinton and Barack's buddies) who ran Fannie should be publicly flogged and shot

  • Actually 2 x none of them are worth a tinker's cuss.  That said, all economies are connected.  China is not near the threat theyou would seam, basically because they sell things at about a 40% loss and their commerce is an econmic solution to a political problem...you have to keep all those people busy or they realize that things kind of suck. I don't think this is the end of the world as we know it.  People just need to have faith and do what they do. There is unprecidented opportunity for people who are bold now...but the politicians are the problem, not the answer. I'm voting for Dewover this election.  I want a Dewover! (Do-Over for those who have not hadd enough cafeiene yet this morning).
