  • Expect to see the back up QBs get some time this weekend.

Everything from the meeting, without being explicitly stated, points to Snyder being back next year.

Told to expect a few "suprises" in this years recruiting class.

Team has good energy in practice despite being out of the bowl picture.

I don't think Snyder thinks we can beat Tulsa (which is a realistic thought process).

Loves this senior class because they "broke the cycle" by putting the team first instead of being individuals.  Snyder quote "forget about me, forget about the staff, come out Saturday to support these seniors."  I have to agree with him on that.

  • They (senior class under Snyder) also broke the cycle of winning records and bowl games...  Just thought I'd lodge that in there.

You and me both ... I couldn't agree more and I will be there.

Leaving the bball game to go to the tailgate and get ready for "the walk" ... The seniors deserve it.

That's part of his problem.  Even though we all know, the coach HAS to believe that you can beat anyone, anytime.  And it will rub off on the players.  No more of this BS "We just want to be competitive."   ::)

  • The players have my support and will continue to do so. I will no longer purchase season tickets until this administration decides to make a head coaching change - the sooner the better.
My contributions to the Big Green will decrease next season as well, but I will still provide them a solid donation and it will be a slight decrease.
I will attend most games(whenever possible) but will continue to be vocal of my dislike of our head coach - if he remains on next season.

The best suprise snyder could have as far as recruiting goes is to resign NOW before we get into the thick of recruiting season.

Maybe you should blame the guy who recruited them.  There are only 11 guys playing their last game Saturday remaining out of a class of 25 that committed plus walkons.  If the class had gotten eligible and stuck around the last few years may have been different.  Kitchens, Spillman, Leggett, Hoskins, Parkhurst, Spann and Wynn are the only Pruett recruits in that class that contributed at any level this year.  Contrast that with Cincinnati where Kelly had the luxury of 11 starting seniors on defense left for him by D'Antonio.

We would have a hard time competing with Tulsa if we still had Chad and Randy if they play clean football and don't turn it over.

;D Now you know Coach Pruett left the team with all kinds of talent and give the new coach plenty of time before spring game.  Not a Snyder supporter used to be but not now.   A change needs to be made but our previous coach left us high and dry and some people on here want him back.

  • I highly doubt they would come in durign a QB club meeting and hint that he is gone.  Of course they are going to be positive and not hint that the coach will be canned.  Id liketo see the surprises we have in recruiting.  Maybe thesurprise is we get more than 5 guys

  • And I highly doubt that Snyder would have spent so much time talking about recruiting, the fact they all have their flights set for Sunday, etc. if he already knew his fate.  I also highly doubt that he would be fired out of the blue on Sunday.  If they were going to fire him I am sure they would have had a path to that end laid out (i.e. performance objectives).  So you add 1+1 and you get 2.

I have changed my mind from thinking Snyder is a bad coach to just believing that his vision is not suited for non-bcs football.  The way he wants to build a team and manage a game is more suited to a school where you can get superior athletes.  Non-bcs schools can get good athletes, but not superior athletes.

I agree 100%.  He just doesn't see what needs to happen to get a Marshall University to a competitive level in today's college football landscape, but I am confident that he could continue an established BCS program's consistency.

  • I agree with Banker's last post.  I really do think he knows the game, but is too committed to "his" path. Instead of trying to overcome the obvious, perhaps he should attack the obvious with talent and style to compete in his conference.  If you look at the BCS busters, you just don't see any "knock-down - drag-out teams.  Even Fresno State and Boise mix it up with emphasis on the big, strong tight ends and backs catching passes.

If he is back, I will be too.  But if he doesn't win next year he does need to be looking for his next position after game 6 - 2009.

Yes.  He is committed to "his" path whether it is right or not.

Yes.  He is committed to "his" path even if it leads us over a cliff edge.

  • Please people Snyder couldn't find his way out of a wet paper bag let alone manage an established BCS college football team.
The man was an academic non-qualifier while trying to get into Marshall - Do you think he could run Ohio State's football program??  I bet he could run them into straight into the ground too.

Snyder is a great assistant - but never good enough to handle the head job.

No way.  Ohio State would be 2-10.

Why do you highly doubt he would spend time talking about doing his job?  Do you think he would come in and say hey we arent recruiting anyone b/c Im getting fired?

  • I can't imagine that he will be back next year, but if does return I sure hope he can make some major improvements in the passing game.  We need to recruit some QBs in case Cann's completion rate doesn't improve.

It's the way he was talking about recruiting, attitude, body language, his excitement level about guys who were going to suprise us out of this class.

If you know your going to be fired you may still be working it but you are not going to be able to fake that excitement level.  Maybe they are just going to broadside him after the Tulsa game, who knows, but right now, if it's coming, he doesn't have a clue.
