  • One point I want to make:

The reason that this news was broken by Thundering Lydia, Chezdog, and myself...among others....and NONE from the other board is because for the last few years there has been very limited freedom of opinion and freedom of speech on the other board.

Posters that werent already on Herdfans were driven this direction through because of the restrictive naturre of the other site.

Herdfans...is the place to be for all TRUTHFUL things Herd related.....fair, balanced, and no spin....

Its funny how the main dictators of the other board have been posting all over this thread....its to bad that theyve had to spend so much time away from there home just to find out whats going on...

Amen. I'm here lately because the other board is moderated by (at least in some cases) and ran solely for those who think they are superfans and nobody else matters.

  • Here is some info for the pros and the cons.....I spoke with a booster today by phone that has talked with Pruett AND Donnan in the last two weeks.

Are they interested? Apparently one is and one is not. I wont say whom is and isnt, and I will not say that Snyder is fired or hired....all I was told is that money is there, the decision may or may not be.

The meeting in Charleston that everyone spoke of? It happened.....a flagstaff bank I believe.

IMO...not anyone elses or anything I have heard....Snyder doesnt know what is going to happen...and neither does KO Marcum. The decision lies in the hands of  the BOG's and Kopp and they are still debating.

I was once again told that next Tues or Wednesday, one way or the other, the news will break. I expect it to be in the papers or news late Monday evening regardless.

I am not riding the fence guys....I really dont think the decision has been made yet. This weekend could tell the tale....

    Its a fun thread although...

This makes more sense to me than anything else I've seen posted.  Whenever a large group is trying to make a decision (BOG, Kopp, Marcum, boosters, etc.), everybody takes sides and a lot of them believe (or at least say) that what they want to happen is what's going to happen.  That's why there are so many conflicting reports.  I think there will be some major changes regardless.  Deals will be struck.  A lot of politics will probably play out over the next week.  Snyder might do himself a big favor by beating Tulsa, and then again it might be too late.

Personally, I don't see how Snyder can an effective recruiter now.  If he doesn't leave, they better come up with something big to create excitement for the donors, the fans, and most of all the recruits.

  • Let me end the suspense and drama by saying...... as of right now, the coach is going nowhere.  5% chance he gets fired.  I know, you all will count my # posts (which apparently is the mark of credibility)  and delete it.  Go ahead, no big deal.  Bottomline, if you want this guy fired it will take a monumental ground swell of opposition to him staying from YOU.  Go crazy with emails to anyone and everyone you know that you believe to be connected.  There is 1 person that will make this decision, I think you can figure out who that is.

  • This was an easy decision 40 games ago.  Marshall football is down.  UCF rushed for a high ypc before the turnovers started.  We don't stunt.  We have no technique.

  • If you want to know the Power Brokers, Check the membership list here and please forward your donations to support your opinions. Yes, I've heard they are concerned but they are MUCH closer to the details and requirements for change than most of us posting here. Of course they could use many more members, so feel free to inquire and forward the $$ to support your views...

Because of a lot of things, I vote for Coach Snyder to have another year. I think we're close. I am EXTREMELY disappointed with this year and expected at least 6-6. If nothing better next year, it's a no brainer. We cannot get folks to come to game watching in Florida.....

NOTE the annual dues and get ready to pony up. $$ talks & BS walks?????

    As always, just my opinion.

By one person making the decision, do you mean one person with official authority or one person that has dominating influence?

  • I am totally with you on the other site....

All I know is that the facts in my first post I know to be absolute fact....what people want to conclude from it is up to them...I take it as Snyder is going to be let go.

I guess if others want to believe that Kopp and Marcum are going to be able to overrule the BOG, the Big Green, and most of the big donors then so be it.....hey, may be they are right....but I dont see where that authority would come from...

Let the players decide.  We Are Marshall!!!!!

  • Let's be real. Koop amd company would have to be deaf, dumb and blind to not know the VAST majority of fans want Snyder gone. I know no one that thinks he should be retained. In fact, my buddies in VA that no nothing about the Herd can't believe a change has not been made.

  • I dont know if you would want me DJ.

I was overheard this weekend talking about an onside punt.

INteresting if you think about it.

Punter rugbys out to the right.   The gunners on the outside, two of them, go out then turn their defenders around to where their backs are facing ...punter kicks a low lining bouncing punt...into their backs, then goes and recovers it.  If it misses them, then it bounds down the field with so much top spin it will just roll until someone has the ballz to jump on it.

So, like I said, you may not want me as coach, all though ya gotta admit.  Thats a pretty daggone good idea huh.

Wow, Aaron.  I've never thought about that, but that may actually work.

Great, now people are gonna hate me for agreeing with one of your posts.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see one in the paper after Tulsa. That is, if there's no other announcements about his position.

This is exactly what I have heard.

  • Here is the thing I don't get.....Any decent D1 football program in this country would not be at a stand still on this decision. Look around the country at coaches being fired and some of them are getting canned after a couple years of losing. Some are getting canned even after winning!!  Why is it that our administration is at empass on whether or not to keep a coach who has not had one winning season and has never improved the team ON THE FIELD?!!  No where else in america is this going on folks. Only at MU are their people supporting a losing coach, which is why we have fallen off the map. Like I have said before. until this school learns that this is a business and learn to run this like a business this will continue. It is very frustrating.

now you are still here whimpering, crawl back to the herdnation where you can snuggle up with jc and aaron.

  • The only donor I know personally doesn't know anything. I do not know where he ranks on the donor list.  I go with Chez on this one - the decision hasn't been completely made.

I think Kopp thought or hoped Snyder would be a great coach. Offered him an extension based on what he knew and saw.  IMO, Kopp took a risk and obviously it hasn't paid off. My understanding of Kopp is that he will listen to the donors, the BOG, but my sense is that the decison to hire or fire rests strictly with Kopp.  As someone also posted, we are not talking about a carry out boy who keeps screwing up. We are talking about a coach, husband, father.  Kopp will take all things into account. He is, as I have said, a very deliberative person. I have no doubt he has listened to a lot of opinions.  It also seems reasonable as part of this process to know if the money is there for a buyout so I am sure donors have been brought together and asked if the money is on the table to pull the trigger.  Kopp may deside not to do it for whatever reason. It might be that he has indicated to Snyder that he will have five years, who knows.  At this point, I want Snyder gone. I don't see the improvements to justify his continued coaching. I do appreciate not hearing about the players on the police blotter, I do appreciate high graduation rates.  I am an academician as well and those things are very important.  I do believe that those things can be achieved and at the same time the team wins more games than it loses.

The message boards might meltdown if Snyder is retained, but in the end I will respect Dr. Kopp's decision.  I won't view it as anti-athletic as I once would have. I will view it as a president who considered all the issues and decided that the coach deserves another year --- Snyder's performance, is money available for the buyout, and perhaps Kopp is weighing whether or not he wants a group of donors to dictate to him who he should hire.

I won't like it if Snyder returns and I may decide not to renew my season tickets or renew less tickets than what I currenlty purchase.  Like Dr. Kopp, I will consider lots of things before making a decision to spend money on the football program.

  • Donors shouldn't completely dictate what decisions the president makes but in this case the donors know more about MU football than Kopp does. On the other hand, Kopp can't be blind to what has been going on in 4 seasons here. If Kopp had not given Snyder that contract extension we wouldn't be near the mess we are in now. I hope Kopp has learned his lesson on stuff like that. It looked like Snyder was going to be just what we needed after all the trouble our players had been in but that doesn't make you a great coach. Snyder never had  a chance to show what he knew when Kopp gave him the extension. Now we know that in 4 seasons Snyder is not the guy we thought he was. He just doesn't have IT to be a head coach. Not at this point in his career and probably never. It will make him more marketable though to be an assistant where he should have stayed and I would venture to say that if Snyder had it to do over again that he would have stayed the D coor. with OSU.  Good job, high profile but just enough responsibility to stay low key and not have too much to worry about. That is where he should have stayed.

  • OK I have just heard that a secret meeting at the Hal Greer Blvd CVS Pharmacy was held with the BOG and Kopp and certain Big Green members and according to the pharmacists who overheard the conversations, Snyder has to win big over Tulsa to keep his job. If Tulsa blows out the Herd, Snyder is fired immediately and Minter will be named interim coach for a lame duck year under Marcum as AD.

The next secret meeting will be at Billy Bobs

I just attended a Secret Meeting with my dog in my garage. We both voted that People food is better than dog food, but we're split on sink water being better than toilet water. The big money donors are leaning towards the sink water being better.

We should know more by Tuesday.
