BENWOOD -- The authorities have charged a West Virginia University football player and another teen with sexual assault.
Police say Mark Sampson, 18 of Glen Dale and Carson Koontz, 19 of Moundsville, sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl.
The criminal complaint says the boys approached the girl at a party on Saturday and that she went with them to buy beer.
The complaint says they sexually assaulted her several times in the car on the way.
Sampson is a freshman walk-on running back.
WVU Head Football Coach Bill Stewart released a statement Tuesday afternoon that Sampson had been dismissed from the team for a violation of team policy.
Stewart said he would have no further comment of the situation.
