  • My wife works at the airport here in Beckley and called me and said that Chad and Bobby P had just landed in a helicopter out there this afternoon. Just wondering if there was something going on around Beckley this weekend - I would love to see the Beckley area alumni club get up and rolling again. I hear that things are looking promising for that to happen!  Maybe Bob is having Chad visit the ole hometown to drum up some support?

  • When I was up there I saw some Marshall fans occasionally. More of a WVU area but there are MU people there. Also, could have been going back to Bobby's high school to talk or something. I believe Pruett went to Woodrow Wilson.

  • I am pretty sure Bob still has a house down here so Chad could be just coming down to spend some time with his coach.

  • Sounds interesting anyway. Glad to see CP spending so much of his time in the state.

Maybe a two man get together to plot strategy on how Chad can help Bobby get the AD job?

  • I thought they were heading up some aid to flood victims and then I think Chad Pennington is coming to Huntington to do some stuff with the Bartrum /Brown weekend.

  • They are going to a function at Massey cabin for one of the southern clubs.  It has been on Woody's show all week.  Not sure when it is this weekend.

That dump is one of the last few cities in WV that gives a damn about Marshall... if we lose Beckley then we may as welll just figure we are just Huntington University.

There is no town in the entire state other than Huntington that gets behind Marshall unless we're winning. I lived in that pig sty for a while so I have an educated clue. The majority in Beckley is Blue and Yeller. So is Parkersburg, Wheeling, Princeton, Martinsburg and everywhere else.

    We never had Beckley.

I live in that "pig sty" right now and you don't know your ass from a hole in the ground about what you are talking about.

Sorry about your luck, pal. How's the nightlife?  :-*

What is it I don't know about? As I said, I lived there and wanted to cut my wrists from day one. Just my personal experience and opinion. But I'd still like to know why one would defend the place.

  • I grew up in Beckley, from day 1 till I graduated from Woodrow Wilson. It was a great place to grow up, not much there for an adult i guess.  I moved, but Beckley will always be home for me.

Actually it is quite good.  I have a wife and a 4 year old and usually I am in bed by 10.  Most of the time I sleep all night so my "night life" is just fine.

Then you didn't get to know any of the people or the place.  It is the gateway to the outdoors in West Virginia.  Beckley is an hour from some of the most beautiful places in our state.  Of course, those that are hung over most of the day and not waking up to go see it would miss the opportunity to see some wonderful things.  The people here are some of the best you will find.  I often forget to shut my garage doors and when I wake up my ATV is still sitting there with the key in the ignition.  My neighbors would give me the shirt of their backs without me asking.  Just to keep it Marshall related, Beckley produced the greatest football coach in the history of our program - Bobby Pruett.  Several very good players from WWHS went to Marshall:  Doug Legursky, Shavar Greer, and Matt Morris are some of the more recent ones.  Oh yeah, every one of those players came to Marshall while BP was coach.  Defend it?  Yes.  I will defend it.

    Well-played.

Don't forget Mike Guilliams. He was a hell of an offensive lineman.

  • I hate thinking about what level the football program would fall to if not for the concern of Bobby and Chad.  They seem genuinely concerned about the program's well being and appear to be trying to boost things in spite of it's current condition.
