  • Their OOC schedule is challenging with Troy, Missouri, Marshall and Boise State in successive weeks.

  • Is it awful to think that they may be looking past us to Boise State?

  • "It could be a rougher start than it appears on paper with an opener against a good Troy team with the type of defense that could give the Falcons problems. Follow that up by trips to Missouri and Marshall and a home game against Boise State, and Bowling Green should be ecstatic if it starts 2-2."

I wonder which two teams the writer thinks BGSU has the best chance of beating?  Missouri?  Boise State?  Or the good Troy team with the defense that could give the Falcons problems?

  • Bowling Green will start the season 0-4.

They have nothing on defense and I've heard Clawson's system is extremely hard to learn.  Watch out for them next year though.

  • We will win this game with defense and running game. Old-school smash mouth football.

  • Ill be happy for a boring Win... I don't think I've experienced an exciting loss, and if there is such a thing, I'd still much rather have the W!

Playing that way won't win many games. You have to score to win. You can't expect to play great defense all the time.

  • I agree...and the last thing you want is boring offense. Takes the crowd right out of the game. Our attendance being down its gonna be tough to keep the crowd into it unless you score a ton!

Which reminds me to ask...why does everyone always leave at halftime? We couldn't be THAT boring...could we? I usually stay as long as i can stand minus the massive amounts of alcohol i've had throughout the game and the hot sun.
I feel its somewhat insulting to our players who stayed and played their (@/:; off the entire game, least we could do as fans is stay out there with 'em.

  • I'd love to know how many coaches' meetings include the phrase:

"We can't do that! Think of how our fans would feel! I don't care how well it might work..."

  • I can tell you one thing. Snyder and Shannon wont be attending too many more MU coaches meetings if they continue the same ultra conserrvative offense we have displayed the last 3-4 years. If we are going to win, we need to establish a passing game to take the pressure off the running game. No passing game = no winning season = bye bye Snyder!

Is that a line from Hoosiers when the team is in the gym practicing with the assistant coach just before Gene Hackman relieves him of his job?  ;D

  • If you will allow me a technicality...

You don't have to score to win, you merely have to score more than the other team, wheter it be a defensive struggle or a shootout.

He needs to worry about lack of interest. Major lack of interest regarding Marshall football.

I don't see that major lack of interest you're talking about, so i'd love to know more about how you're taking the pulse of the Herd nation on that one. This is the most vocal and proud bunch of fans I've ever heard of much less encountered. I've seen more Herd shirts, hats, lawn decorations, etc. this year than any year in recent memory. This is a proud program with proud fans. Just because a small portion are dragging their butts across the carpet doesn't mean everyone else is going to walk out on them.

I also couldn't find a single example of a coach being let go over "lack of interest", but over "losing". Coach Snyder is obviously in the hot seat over the latter. Fans are fickle, and if we start winning games, the interest will take care of itself. Experience tells us that. This likely being Snyder's eight-or-gate (to quote kitschy slogan) year, I think the added drama will drive interest up. That's just me, but I don't think fan interest crosses the head coach's desk...here or anywhere. The school has people for that.

Youre basing that on about 25 people who said they were excited?  I personally know of 10 season tickets that were NOT renewed because of lack of interest people have posted about more not renewing.  What did they article about choose your seat day say we were off 14% from this time last year that seems like interest is waning to me.

  • herdfan429,

I'm wrong because of 25 excited fans, you are right because of 10 dejected fans...I can accept that. That was missing from your initial post and would have provided some clarity in any case. I'm hearing excitement, you're not...I can live with that.

Fans are fickle and fan interest is not a coaching concern...i'm certain of those things, been there and done that.

You win, people get interested, not the other way around. Winning is Coach Snyder's concern.

We will beat Bowling Green...i'd bet my Mark Snyder-autographed jersey on it.  ;D Who wants to ante up?

    MU 17 - BGSU 10

PS - I don't have an autographed jersey, but I'd love to have seen your face. LOL

  • Your a green glass wearing idiot.

Does thinking that Marshall can beat BG mean I wear green glasses?

You're a not so smart NOT because you think Snyder sucks as a coach but because you're an obsessed little troll who hijacks threads and posts the same thing over and over and over.
