  • Not saying I want it to happen, no one does. I hope we win them all and will be there to see it.

Question: If we have to get a new coach and you were the guy, what would be your first order of business?

ME: I would find the best offensive coordinator out there that teaches and employs a Texas Tech style offense

Number 2 - find the best QB and 2 WR's in the country, tell them they WILL start and go from there. If they prove themselves, they will continue to start.

  • This is utterly silly.

Players report today and this is the best we can talk about.  Silly little pipe dream scenarios.  Here, I'll play: I'd go out and get all the 5 star players and hire Urban Meyer as my OC.

Let's talk about the GAHD DAMN SEASON!!!

  • Lighten up Francis, its not a slam, its about discussion and football philosophy. Good gawd some of you guys take this stuff like its the Bible. If you don't want to interject your thoughts on the subject, dont post - simple as that.

Yeah, lets talk about the season - what hasn't been said a thousand times since April?

  • Well...this shoulda been talked about earlier in the summer when the only interesting thing was the future of MU football and how much everyone loathed Snyder.

But i'll offer a few things i'd do:

Ask Bob Pruett how to coach a football team.

Go after a 5 star wide reciever.

Ask Chad Pennington to be my OC or at least work with my QB's as much as possible in the off season.

Keep Rick Minter around, he's done a decent job as DC.

  • I'll agree with two things others have said on this subject:

    1.  Find and hire the best OC Marshall can afford even if the new head coach has to collect and cash in pop cans to help pay his salary; and

    2.  If Minter is not the new HC then keep him around even if it means that the new AD has to collect and cash in pop cans to help pay his salary.

Now I'll add one of my own, recruit, recruit, and recruit.  Now that MU would have a good OC and DC the only thing missing is the outstanding recruits.  So go get the recruits.

  • Let me ask this...... What if we barely squeak by with a win against SIU? Let's say it is a low scoring affair like 13-10.  Sure we won the game but how does it look for the team this year? I see this game being a lot closer than some think.

    Last year:

Maryland (8-5) beat Delaware (4-8) by a score of 14-7.
    Georgia Tech (9-4) beat Gardner-Webb (5-6) by a score of 10-7.

Needless to say, you can't judge a season by one game.  The moral of the story is: JUST WIN!!!

I am on board. Did I mention Snyder? Nope. I said I wouldn't ride Snyder until need be. I was asking a question. It was a hypothetical question. I won't call for his firing if we win no matter what the score but it would worry me.
